Thoroughly enjoyed the lunchtime menu with my wife. Great venue and excellent staff who were friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. The rolls were awesome! I have eaten at several Michelin star restaurants but this is my new favourite and I will be back for sure. Relaxing, friendly and great food. Ps. Had a little chuckle when using the mens toilet seeing the stuffed fox looking down ?‍♂️?Parking: Drove past initially as not obvious from main road. Parking beside restaurant for about 6 cars. On road parking outside.

We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing and the food and wine were both excellent. Coupled with great service and a lovely environment, all in all a fabulous experience.

For general rating, absolutely 5*, delicious food, great serving. Very happy to recommend. As far as Michelin starred restaurants. Very solid 1 star, and very reasonable prices too. Definitely worth a visit. We had lunch and I'm sure we will be back for a tasting menu in the evening.

Exceptional experience at John's House for my birthday lunch from start to finish. This was my first Michelin experience and I was truly blown away. John's House is the perfect mixture of a sophisticated and elevated dining experience with a distinct family feel (the homely surroundings of the restaurant itself created a really relaxed atmosphere). The whole experience felt welcoming, intimate, and unpretentious, but at the same time the level of service and attention to detail left us feeling very special. We had the five course tasting menu for lunch and it was excellent in every regard - the food was incredible, the staff were attentive, and we left with a massive smile on both our faces. The Bradgate deer was particularly good - I'd never had deer before and it was fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend John's House to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience - we hope to be back again very soon!

Such a fantastic place, the food is incredible…and something like 80% of it is locally sourced or grown at the farm.My partner doesn’t like fish, and they were extremely accommodating in editing the menu to swap out any fish elements. Be sure to speak to them when you book a table. The service is brilliant, so warm and friendly and they love talking about the food! There’s no stiff/serious/unapproachable-ness of your ‘Michelin star’.The atmosphere is lovely, cosy and calm. It’s such a gorgeous place, we love coming here!

Yesterday we spent £117 for a mediocre 3 course lunch. The starters were fine but pork belly , where the cut is 50% fat and the accompanying items ( except for the mushrooms) didn’t add much to the dish - did not impress. Then my rice pudding dessert was more like a porridge with an overpowering spoonful of strong chocolate ice cream - wasn’t nice! Amusingly our waitress noticed that I’d tried a spoonful of my husband’s dessert and asked me which one I preferred. Do I told her I just didn’t like mine!Lovely location/ setting ( we did discover the farm shop ) but such a disappointment!Oh , the bread and butter was delicious!

Lovely night at Johns House. We had waited a few months to get a booking so were very happy and there was a lot of anticipation. We did the 5 course tasting menu and everything was excellent. Can’t speak highly enough of the food, the theatre and the service. Our servers Gracie and Stella were excellent. We will most certainly be back

First class, niche dining in this quiet little Leicestershire village.Continues to reach a great standard of quality. All you would expect and more, from great service, perfect food and a brilliant sommelier to advise you in your wine choice.Highly recommended. Why am I telling everyone about it - it'll just make it harder for us to get a reservation!?

My wife and I chose John's House for our special Christmas celebration, and it was an experience filled with both remarkable highlights and a few disappointments. The Michelin-starred journey through culinary excellence was undeniably the pinnacle of our visit. The chef's creations were nothing short of spectacular, each dish a testament to culinary mastery and artistry. The sommelier's selections perfectly complemented the flavors, enhancing the overall dining experience. The waitstaff added a layer of warmth and attentiveness that elevated the evening. Their knowledge and enthusiasm were commendable, guiding us through the courses with grace and professionalism. However, our experience hit a snag when the restaurant manager insisted on the fixed 7-course menu without offering any alternatives. Her approach felt rigid and lacking in understanding for guests' preferences, which was disappointing given the restaurant's reputation for hospitality.Another aspect that detracted from the otherwise serene atmosphere was a large, boisterous table amidst mostly couples. Their exuberance disrupted the tranquility of the evening, dampening the intimate ambiance that many patrons likely sought. In essence, John's House is a culinary haven, a place where gastronomic dreams come true thanks to the chef's expertise and the sommelier's guidance. However, there's a need for the management to be more accommodating and flexible in addressing guests' preferences regarding menu choices. Additionally, maintaining a harmonious atmosphere, especially on special occasions like Christmas, would greatly enhance the overall experience for all diners.

This was a return visit, and this time we stayed overnight in the cottages. I have to say we were completely blown away by the entire experience. Staff - so helpful, so kind, so friendly. What an asset to the business and nothing was too much trouble. Accommodation - lovely. So many thoughtful touches such as fresh crusty bread and butter, choccies, coffee, eggs, drinks, wine, quality cosmetics in the bathroom, authentic furnishings and design. Food - sublime, balanced, flavoursome, fabulously presented, creative. Wine - all excellent. Expertly chosen by the friendly sommelier and explained to us in a non-stuffy way. Verdict - WOW! Just WOW! We are already planning a return visit. Looking forward to it already :) Thank you to the entire team at Johns House for a memorable night!

I loved Johns house, Michelin food, relaxed setting, lovely service. All the aperitifs were delicious but sadly 3 of the dishes served were disappointing & the staff looked shocked at my response. I enjoyed the night but this time the food wasn’t as amazing as I’ve had there before.
