We went to marples for afternoon tea on the Friday before Christmas.
The staff were very nice. The sandwiches, soup, pigs in blankets and deep fried brie bites were first class. Was a little dissapointed with the scone, it was made with brown flour and was very heavy and dry as also was the base of the millionaire shortcake which also had pecans in it which we didn't know about and my husband is slightly allergic to walnuts and pecans, it was pointed out after that they do say on the menu that nuts might be in the food but who reads all of that, I think that it might be prudent to actually mention this when ordering. Everything else was great so would certainly come again

My friend & I came for afternoon tea yesterday (14th December) for a belated Birthday meal for me. We were not disappointed, the food was lovely & very well presented. The only thing which would have made the visit better was a pot of coffee on the table so we could have helped ourselves. All in all a very pleasant afternoon & we will definitely come back again for another afternoon tea. Thank you Marples, your staff are lovely, friendly & polite.

Had breakfast and lunch here a few times, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The food is good quality without being pretentious and at a reasonable price. Pre booking is advisable as it isn't a large restaurant, and they haven't crammed in too many tables. The scrambled egg with smoked salmon on sourdough toast was lovely.

We went here on Saturday when we visited Cleethorpes. It was really busy and we couldn’t get a seat initially, but was glad we got a place at the bar when we came back later. I had the banana and popcorn loaf - huge portion and really tasty. My partner had eggs florentine and it was beautifully presented with lovely sourdough bread. Would come back again.

Marples is our go to place. We have been going here for 25 years. The food is excellent and the staff are welcoming and always pleased to see us. We started going with my mum and dad, who are no longer with us. They looked after them especially when they were getting older and things were more difficult for them. Since we lost them we have been equally well looked after. We usually book but if we don't they try their best to accommodate us. This is our favourite place in Cleethorpes, it is our home from home. Here's to another 25 years!!!
