Is a Marston's pub so you know what to expect from a selection perspective. That said, the pint of Pedigree I had was absolutely divine in terms of the temperature, pour and flavour so credit to the staff for getting the fundamentals spot on. Service was a bit slow but I could have just come in at a bad time. Staff very friendly and pleasant! Went in the beer garden at the rear but was confused if I could have gone out front and sat on the tables by the Witham as a sign said not to. I didn't try the food.

Arrived with a group of mates to be greeted by Amanda. Very helpful and pleasant. Tables reserved and drinks got we sat down. Amanda then went from the bar to cook our dinner and was replaced by an equally very pleasant and helpful Hannah. Steak and ale pie was delicious. We then pondered desserts. Mentioned apple pie to Hannah who vanished off to the kitchen, and came back with the amazing news Amanda was going to make us apple crumble. What great service. Seven of us enjoyed this great service and very nice it was thanks.

Looks like an "old man pub" from the outside. There are clearly regulars, but friendly to outsiders, child friendly during daytime too. Comfortable, great prices compared to Cosy Club/Botanist, a literal gem on Lincolns canalside.Kid-friendliness: Took our newborn the day we registered him, and a lovely older gentleman handed him £10 for his bank.
