Great traditional pub.As soon as we walked it, they were very welcoming and felt at home. Beer was great and tasted fresh. The food we had was delicious and the desserts hit the spot.We have stumbled across the village for a place to stay and I love the feel of the whole place. ?

Mid week visit whilst staying in the area. Warm welcome, excellent scrumpy cider and amazing food! If we lived round here, we would be frequent visitors! Would highly recommend.

Friendly welcome on arrival and staff very friendly throughout or stay at this great traditional local pub. The food was amazing, fresh and very tasty with good sized portions offering value for money. The rooms located out of the main pub in separate wing, once inside they are very clean. Although a remote location, it’s a lovely area if you fancy walking or cycling around the Lincolnshire Wolds

having read the 2 terrible reviews I can not believe this is the same pub.we were on bikes and knew the pub was open. very warm welcome on arrival, fab menu made it a difficult choice. i had melt in the mouth brisket and my wife salmon also perfectly cooked, washed down with a lovely pint, no room for puds but had a nice pot of tea. will definately return.

Called in after walking in the area. Incredibly friendly place, lovely food too. Had a chat with the landlady and a couple of locals, who all made us feel welcome. Our dog was sleeping on the floor, with no problem. We will return and perhaps use the rooms to stay over next time. I would recommend this proper old English pub to anybody.

Lovely country pub, good food, comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Always seems nicely busy, get served easily but never noticed it dead quiet. Never seen the rooms, but they seem busy and a great location to stay in.

Awful experience. Booked for 7 people for my birthday. Waited one and a half hours before we got our starters which was nice except 3 triangles of bread with soup (not even a full slice of bread) and the menu had stated warm crusty roll! Mains was awful cheap frozen chips and I didn’t allow my daughter to eat hers as her fish smelt off! Terrible food and terrible service.

Super cute country pub and rooms. Low hanging beams, classic upholstery - everything you would want when visiting this style of country village.

Absolutely horrendous. Sat for one and a half hours before starters arrived. Soup was nice but came with 3 triangles of bread instead of crusty roll as stated. Daughter couldn’t even eat her main as the fish smelt awful. Chef looked scruffy and no chef clothes. Food was awful. Never coming again.

We booked for a Birthday lunch at short notice and the staff were very accommodating. The team couldn’t have been more helpful. Our food was excellent, the service was good. We were very pleased overall.

Stumbled across this delightful pub whilst exploring the area. Warm, friendly greeting upon arrival. Considering its located in a small village the menu was large and varied. The food was well cooked and presented .... the landlady very engaging throughout despite being very busy. Generous portions at a good price, real value for money. Locals are lucky to have this on their doorstep. Well wort a visit.

Excellent pub in the Lincolnshire Wolds, there's plenty of parking, good selection of drinks and food (including vegetarian options).Service was quick, and the food was good.I would visit again if in the area.

We did a six mile walk round Donington today and had booked for Sunday Lunch at the pub. Wish we hadn’t bothered. The dishes did not resemble a Sunday lunch at all, two main courses took best part of 40 minutes to arrive, and when they did, well if we weren’t starving we would have got up and walked out. One lad behind the bar seemed to be doing his best, rest of the staff were too busy standing about chatting and couldn’t be bothered. Given how good some of the other reviews are, something drastic must have happened here, because there is no way I would go back.
