First visited the Firkin when it opened, many years ago. Had the opportunity to visit in Feb 2024 and really enjoyed it. Had an excellent craft beer, it was served at a good temperature in a clean glass from happy staff.

The Firkin is a great local micro pub situated on Newton High Street. It boasts an impressive range of cask ales as well as craft keg. These guys take their beer seriously and the quality is superb.It gets very busy and can be hard to find anywhere to sit depending on your time of visit. It's a dog friendly pub, but there can sometimes be too many dogs. Although the owners seem fairly responsible and keep their dogs well behaved.Overall this is a great pub and I'd highly recommend.

Compact boozer selling lots of different types of mad booze, ipa's, stouts, strong cider etc. Dog friendly too, with treats to boot! One of the best pubs in the high St in my opinion ??Kid-friendliness: Nope, just no...... haha
