Stayed a couple of times and the rooms, staff and general feel of the place is top notch. The breakfast is always delicious. In particular the staff should be mentioned as they are always so friendly and can never do enough to help you.

Just come back from a 3 night stay at the Hoste Arms. It was me, my wife and my toddler. It cost around £200 per nightCheck-in was effortless. Staff at desk were very kind and accommodating.Getting in the room 14(Which was kindly upgraded) the room was spacious and reasonably equipped. The decor was a bit dated. The bed was below par and not very comfortable. Two singles clumped together to make a super king with a seam in the middle! We discovered in the evening the room had no hot water. Rang the reception desk at around 7.30. We were told to wait another 30 mins as the other guests had used all the hot water! 60 mins later still no hot water. Ended up cleaning my toddler by filling the sink up using boiling water from kettle and some cold tap water. We ended up using a flannel to clean her. Pretty miserable experience to be frank and left a really sour taste on my holidayThe staff member who originally dealt with our issue was useless and not helpful at all. 3 phonecalls later a new night staff member was a lot more helpful. He gave us a key to use facilities in a new room so we could shower.Staff were sound in the morning and organised a room change in morning and new room was okay except for another bed which was pretty terrible again.Overall the place is a bit dated and doesn't feel like a luxury hotel. Questions need to be raised about how issues are dealt with amongst management staff. Avoidance culture is not a culture to build a successful hotel!

My wife and I recently stayed for 3 nights in room 5. The room overlooks the high street. It is spacious and has its own sitting area. Overall it’s fine but the lighting is subdued and in our opinion requires improvement. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was of a good standard. The service in the dining room was on occasions a little on the slow side.Rooms: See aboveFood & drinks: See above

We booked as a group of 14 for a pre-Christmas family meal in the restaurant. Food was very average and the service was unwelcoming. Many of the group had mussels which were gritty. The experience was generally lacklustre and extremely overpriced.

We had Christmas lunch at the hoste approximately 5 years ago so thought we would book it again with family this year, unfortunately it didn't live up to our previous experience, the food really wasn't good. I understand the cliche about dry turkey and we lived that today, I'm guessing it was all pre cooked and reheated or kept on hot plates for a long while for me it wasn't edible, I'm guessing the reply will be its difficult to provide a Christmas lunch for that amount of people, we'll if you can't then don't today was a £500 lunch and not worth it by a long way. On a personal note I also don't understand why dogs are allowed in the dining area, in the bar if you must but a dog grooming its self at the table next to us whilst trying to eat is unpleasant, the staff were lovely and friendly and the best thing about today's experience we won't be back to dine.
