Tasty pizzas and a good variety of beers, gins or your tipple of choice. Efficient service despite being busy and a steady stream of takeaway pizzas going out the door as well. Lovely garden when the weather is good, with plenty of shade.

Always receive a warm welcome from staff. Very friendly and personable. Keen to serve and provide what you want. The staff are superb. A very old pub with an Italian flavour menu. Very good quality food. Beautifully decorated garden with an abundance of plants and with plenty of tables.

Very good Italian cuisine. Pizza was spot on and the dough sticks and garlic bread were also very good. Will definitely come again.

A pleasant surprise stopping at a The Old Kings Head for lunch today. A warm welcome and the food was exceptionally good. It has a varied menu that lens towards Italian food. A good range of local beers as well.

We visited again recently to meet up with family and it was an excellent choice. The pub is characterful with a relaxed atmosphere, the staff friendly and helpful. We all had pizzas and they were delicious, with generous tasty toppings. We wondered why we hadn't visited more often as we live fairly locally - I am sure we will visit more often in the future.

Great pub. Friendly staff. Amazing Italian food. Different selection than you usually see of pizzas and pasta made fresh on site. Yummy puds too. Wish we lived locally to go back every week!

Critical reviewers comment as follows…….. ‘Lovely old tavern lovingly transformed into a wonderful pizza restaurant with 50 types of gin, deservedly popular & busy, book in advance. Memorable. 10/10 (review from Andrew Scott ?)

I visited this pub/restaurant for a pre Christmas meal with a couple of work mates. The menu is primarily an Italian food one with pasta, pizza and salad offered. The pasta menu seemed strange to me as the only one available was linguine with 4 different meat sauces. Not sure why spaghetti, penne or any other shape pasta wasn’t offered being an Italian restaurant. Anyway I opted for a pizza, namely a Norfolk hot sausage and I also added capers and red onion. The pizza came very quickly and looked nice but it was hard to tell really as the room that we sat in was so dark ….. too dark in fact as I remember I had trouble making out what was on my pizza on the menu. The pizza base was an odd affair and was a bit like a flat bread . From the first mouthful I could tell this was a very average pizza. The onions were virtually raw and seemed like they were thrown on a few moments before the pizza came out of the oven. Speaking of oven I’m quite sure they don’t have a wood fired oven as I saw no blistering of scorching on the edges of the base , oops I meant flat bread ! The pizza had no real depth of flavour and seemed to covered in dried oregano which was quite pronounced. My last four holidays pre covid have been in Sicily and mainland Italy and I fully understand what makes a great pizza. I remember having a margherita pizza ( the most basic pizza, tomato basil, and mozzarella ) in sorrento that cost 5 euros which tasted incredible yet so simple. The menu mentions the tomatoes that they use on the pizzas as from the area around Vesuvius but made no mention what they were, if they were eluding to the famous san marzano variety they certainly didn’t taste like them. I did eat all of my pizza as I was hungry but would I ever eat there again ? no. The staff were very polite and couldn’t fault them but the food was average and room was stupidly dark and I now need to wash my clean clothes as I stink of smoke from their open fire.
