Very long wait for lunch to be

The cakes here are second to none well portioned and extremely tasty the Flapjacks are my favourite, there is a large variety of hot and cold foods on offer with soups and specials that change at a regular interval. With a choice of teas and coffees a snack or more hearty meal is available for all tastes and wallets, the staff so happily all working together chatting and laughing with each other is a joy to see, so if you are in Downham and want a good meal or just a cup of coffee/tea with a sit down them you won't be disappointed here

Waited 45 minutes for a jacket potato. When it hadn’t arrived I asked for a refund when they told me they’d not even started preparing it. Manager didn’t care, not even an apology. Overpriced too.

called in for some lunch prior to another commitment. I ordered two jacket potatoes. After 40 minutes and hearing the customers on the joining tables enquiring as to where their food was after one waiting over 1 hour and the other 50 minutes. I went to the till to enquire where mine was as I needed to leave to be told it hadn’t even began to be prepared. No explanation as to the delay and particularly frustrating given I could see plenty of jacket potatoes sat on the side and both were ordered with cold fillings, so no reason for a 40 minute delay. I asked for a refund, that could not be actioned without the Duty Manager, so the Cafe Assistant had to go and find him as he wasn’t reachable on the telephone, so another 5 minutes waiting for an older gentleman to arrive - he made no apologies and didn’t even compliment the coffees for the disruption. He simply stared at me, input the amount in the card machine and said “tap here”. If your manager has no customer services skills how do you expect your staff to be polite. I could hear lots of people enquiring as to where their food was only to receive a snappy response ‘we’re busy’; well when I left half your tables were empty so you were not that busy. Given they’re a cafe in a furniture store in Downham Market - they’re London prices. £7 for a jacket potato with a side of poor customer services. Lots of cafes in Downham. Try some others.

Their broccoli and stilton soup with bread roll was absolutely delicious and my husband enjoyed the roast sweet potato and carrot soup with granary roll. ? Lovely polite staff and warm inside the cafe when there was a downpour going on outside!

Called in to Market Deeping on our travels and discovered Reeds Homestore. We needed a break and some refreshments. We had our dog with us and had been refused entry to Weatherspoons! But we were made very welcome in Reeds cafe that has an area for those with dogs. On arrival a member of staff filled a water bowl for our dog. There was a jar of small dog biscuits on the table and a selection of beds to make our dog comfy. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the cakes were delicious with reasonable prices. Well done Reeds for making our visit a pleasure. Other businesses please take note.
