There weren't enough staff on, the few that I saw were working hard. Unfortunately the gammon steak I ordered was solid grizzle, the sauce was wrong, and I got onion rings instead of fries. I decided not to complain as the staff are clearly trying their hardest.... the tables are also very sticky.... maybee chance cleaning product or teach staff how to use them.

The only positive about today's visit was the burger was hot. Cleanliness of the venue leaves a fair bit to be desired, the tables had not been cleared from earlier customers, the seats were dirty, and the tables sticky, we were greeted with a list of things not available on the menu which was so extensive it was easier to ask what we could order. 20 minutes later two sad looking little burgers arrived with a scant portion of fries, one of which should have been dirty fries in a sauce, they were plain fries. Not a pleasant experience at all, have used this place several times previously and this is by far the worst eating out experience we have had in a very long time. Its going to take sometime before a return is on the cards.

My only reasoning for the 1 star is because the bar staff not only rude to my partner when he went up to give our order, but my partner had to ask for a glass for a bottled drink only to be handed what can be described as “quick rinsed glass” I’m truly disappointed as I’ve been coming here regularly and have always had a great or good experience but to say I really do feel like not coming back is an understatement.All the reviews online are obviously true and should be listened to! You are a poor establishment with staff that don’t live or work up to the high standards the restaurant perceives.

We came out tonight for a birthday meal just my boyfriend and I, unfortunately we left disappointed with the service. We ordered nachos, full monty mixed grill, crispy chicken sandwich with a side of Mac’n’cheese, sweet potato fries and two drinks. Nachos came basically straight away but half way through we found a sticker that said “today is Thursday, use by midnight Sunday” already disgusted as today is Monday so naturally we asked for a new one, they took it away and then came back to say it was just the sticker that comes with the food which we thought is a load of rubbish. Our new nachos came out lovely nice and warm how they should be which made us grow even more concerned about the first lot we received as they were not like this. Once we finished those it was 10 minutes before our plate got taken away after staff walked past multiple times and could have easily just take it from our table. We then waited 40 minutes before asking where our food was, the girl came back and said it will be out in a minute. Another 10 minutes passes before another girl comes to our table to say they are out of sweet potato fries so clearly hadn’t started preparing our food for them to wait this long to tell us. We said we would give them another 10 minutes before we decided to get a refund and leave, when getting to the till they were already talking about our order. We said we’ve been waiting an hour and would like a refund, the guy said the food is ready to come out and has been sitting there because they didn’t know which table the order went too. I thought this was inexcusable as how did we get the nachos but they didn’t know which table to bring the rest of our order to? It personally doesn’t make sense to me, I feel lied to like they thought we were stupid. All we wanted to do was have a nice meal together for my boyfriends birthday and now our night has been nothing but disappointing. Needless to say we have gone to McDonald’s to get something because at least we won’t be waiting an hour there!!

This was the first time that we've been here for a couple of years. We went for lunch and had a really good experience it was clean in fact it felt pristine. The staff were really polite and very helpful the service was prompt and the food was lovely pub grub. We went on a Thursday and got two meals for £10.95. Fab! I think they do a different deal every day.

Food could've been better. Likely could've gotten better elsewhere at a wetherspoons. Waited nearly 2 hours for the order to eventually arrived. No food at a restaurant should ever take that long to come out. They really need to improve their speed of service as well as the prices. Atrocious

I truly wish that I could rate this establishment zero stars, I cannot put into words how atrocious our visit was this Sunday afternoon.The barman coughed in my face without putting his hand to his mouth and proceeded to charge me a little over £5.50 for the worst pint of Peroni that I have ever tasted.In the two hours that we were there they never attempted to clear a single table around us. Eventually my partner, whilst queuing for 18 minutes just to order a drink, asked one of the bar staff to remove the dirty plates from the next table. Said bar staff wandered over and looked at the filthy table, huffed, and wandered off back to two other bar staff chatting and looking at their phones.I would sack every single one of them, bone idle is an understatement.Stupidly we ordered some snacks, onion rings, frozen and processed, dirty fries, poor quality with chili sauce on them, cauliflower bites, inedible.The amount of people that left the building because they could not get a drink in a timely manner was astonishing, you have to queue up with people queuing to order food.The menus were absolutely disgusting, covered in sauces, sticky, filthy, and not once did I see a table being sanatised in my two hours here.Clueless.Dogs are not allowed inside but OK in the outside seating.As for your response, what kind of hilarity is that... The majority of the staff that I witnessed do not know the meaning of hard work.

I would rather eat carpet got the 8 Oz steak and was the worst meal I have ever consumed in my life the chips were stone cold, 4 people got the same steak on my table and couldn't finish it, the plate was caked with black build up from the poorly washed plate that was coming off onto the ""food"" they served us do not go here unless you like the taste of dirty carpet

Gives a bad first impression tables available but debris from previous diners not cleared, this applied to about four possible tables and it looked as if they had been vacant for some time.Found a table without discarded crockery on it but which had obviously not been cleaned, ordered food at the bar giving table number (Curry was not available ?).When food arrived we rather thought that the table might get a quick wipe over but no.Food probably value for money but the chicken on the Chicken Skewers actually tasted of nothing and had a decidedly odd texture, the only real flavour came from the BBQ sauce!I wanted to like The Gatehouse but we will not be going there again, a place best avoided unless you are desperate.

4 stars because of other people's experiences. I had the sizzler (half chicken and chips) not on a skillet though which was a shame. 2 kids meals, pizza and nuggets both fine. The issue was some uncooked chicken on a meal and the sausages looked like coal, rare steak cooked medium. Otherwise the rest of the party enjoyed theirs. Cheap and cheerful, check your chicken though ?.

The food here was really nice to eat, we went for an Xmas meal. Staff where lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. The only downside to it was the booking system. We had 2 people who couldn't attend due to covid and cancelling their meals and paying for ours was difficult and time consuming. The area was spacious and the venue was very accommodating for small children.

Food is okay, you literally get what you pay for. Had a roast, the potato mash tastes like smash, from the packet. The gravy was definitely from the packet, tasted so chemically. The beef is gristly and grey, didn't eat the carrots and cauliflower because it just tasted of nothing when I tested it. My partner had a 12oz steak, we asked for well done, recieved medium rare and pink and bloody on the inside; it was a thick steak but you could see they only cooked it on the one side, like the chefs couldn't be bothered to turn it over. The Guinness tasted like flavored water. The bar staff are lovely. But that kitchen and menu really needs revamping. Such a large menu and for what? Honestly think it's best to have your smaller menu, have your dietary needs, but have better quality food.

I came here with a friend that lived in the area they had never been, so four of us went for food orded 4 steak meals when they were delivered to the table they were very hot and looked good, We Was asked if we wanted any sauces that we agreed to, we started our meal, while the other 3 was eating I went to the bar to ask again if we could have some sauces we all finished our meals and we didn't get the sauce. One of the stakes was on a hotplate that was the best one, 2 of them was very very chewy and the last one was chewy but the grissle was the last straw, I've used hungry House eateries for years with no issues, but will not be coming back to this one
