“If Norwich ever replaces the castle with a monument to human achievement, it should just be a giant cod from Chish and Fips.
This place is not just a fish and chip shop — it’s a civic treasure. A national asset. Possibly the eighth wonder of the world, but with better tartare sauce.
The fish? Monumental. The batter is so crisp it sounds like applause when you break into it. Inside? Flaky, steaming white perfection. The sort of fish that makes you briefly reconsider every disappointing chippy you’ve ever tolerated.
The chips are proper Norfolk units. Thick. Golden. Fluffy in the middle like they’ve been personally mentored. None of that anaemic, floppy nonsense — these are chips with backbone.
And the smell when you walk in? That glorious mix of salt, vinegar and sizzling happiness. It hits you like a warm hug from a seaside childhood memory — even though you’re bang in Norwich.
The staff run the place like a well-oiled fryer. Friendly, quick, no messing about. Friday night queue? Managed with the calm authority of people who know they’re serving greatness.
You don’t “grab a takeaway” here.
You secure an experience.
In a world of overpriced mediocrity, Chish and Fips stands tall — crispy, golden and unashamedly brilliant.
Five stars. Would queue in the rain. Would fight a seagull for it. ??”

“One of my favourite coffee spots in the city centre. Me and my friends always use it as a meeting point because it has incredible coffee, wonderful staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. I would love to give a specific shout-out to the barista with green hair (I'm sorry I haven't learnt your name yet) as they always welcome me with warm greeting.”

“A beautifully decorated restaurant serving a large range of Italian dishes. Food was good but not the best Italian we’ve had. However, perfectly enjoyable.
Service however..… unwelcoming, sarcastic at times, and as if the staff (make) didn’t want to be there. Shame… could be a gem with a little more “hospitality”. Adding service was galling given the lacklustre attitude.”
