Had a wonderful lunch here on our visit to Norwich. The hosts were very friendly and took time to explain the food and chat with us. Food was really tasty and there was plenty of it. They cater really well for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Great friendly place to eat.

I found Ruths kitchen after looking for a lunchtime vegetarian casual place to eat. The service and food, along with the general ambience was excellent. There was many choices of meat and vegetarian dishes. They have an open kitchen and seating for about 20. The restaurant area needs an upgrade/refit to bring it up to a more sophisticated standard, however it was busy so perhaps it should be left how it is.

This lunchtime I went to Ruth’s kitchen and purchased a take away Falafel Mezze box. I was already a little alarmed by the less than tidy food preparation area, broken glass/perspex in the salad counter and seemingly zero hand hygiene - sadly by this time I’d already paid.Ensuring I don’t get food poisoning is pretty high on my agenda at the moment. So when I returned to my office to find literally 10s of human hairs in my food I was absolutely appalled and beyond incensed. In my hunger I ate one falafel without even looking, disappointingly before my partner noticed atheist first hair poking out of one of the others in the box.Upon further inspection I found lots. I split one in half to find I had literally been sold falafels FULL of thick, cut, black deep fried hair.I retuned the box, they told me it “must just be a mistake”. They claimed it must have been the girl making the salad who was off work today and that they had an EXCELLENT reputation. which I can see from the swathes of positivity in the other reviews.Regardless, there is no excuse that could explain away the volume of bodily matter in the mezze box.I appreciate mistakes happen, and I accept one or two stray hairs, but it was like someone had their hair cut into the falafel mix. I genuinely believe this establishment should be condemned until there are reasonable efforts to serve clean food from a clean environment.

As a veggie and a meat eater we both left satisfied. The food was fresh and flavourful and a generous portion! Service was so friendly and can’t wait to go back to try more

Absolutely delicious, Everything freshly cooked to order, I had the Shawarma Lamb Wrap with everything on it and my son had Falafel Wrap with everything on it. HUGE portions. The bread is soft and doughy and the filling cooked to perfection. Flavour sensation and the best wrap I have tasted in a long time. Authentic, Fantastic people and defo coming back for more. Thanks for bringing your cuisine to Norwich, Highly Recommend xx

Visited mid afternoon on a Saturday. Was welcomed by the people working there and showed to a table. Nice friendly service, they explained the menu on the wall. We had falafels in flatbread - these were excellent - the best falafels since having them in Israel. Lots of nice sauce, salad and pickles in the flatbread. The kitchen is in the front corner of the shop and so you can watch them cook the food which is nice. Overall this is a great place for falafels and if you like quality cooked, some food at a good price then this is a great place to visit.

Pouring with rain today, we called in for a coffee til the rain stopped. The coffee was first class, large cup, real coffee, very reasonably priced. We saw the menu which looked so different to other cafes. A wide range of Middle Eastern foods which looked and smelled delicious, all home cooked. Next visit will be for a meal. Very friendly owners who really seemed to care about their customers. Can’t wait for a return visit, definitely worth trying.

We piled into Ruth's, unbooked, 5 fussy young kids and 6 tired adults, on a quiet Thursday lunchtime - the kind of scenario that brings the average unsuspecting restaurant owner out in a cold sweat. Not here - Julian was charm and patience personified, nothing was any bother. Then the food came - beyond superb, all fresh and home-cooked, punchy chilli sauces and hot fluffy pillows of bread, succulent lamb, crispy chicken schnitzel... all crowned by the best falafel we've ever had. Light, crunchy, exploding with flavour. They weren't kidding about the portions either. Stop thinking about where to go in Norwich for lunch. Here's where you go.

Group of 4 colleagues out for a long overdue lunch! The menu was clearly explained but as we hadn't been before we asked if we could have a mezze suggested by them to give us a good flavour of everything - they did and it did not disappoint and there was so much food, we were really looked after. Such excellent value for money. I look forward to returning with my family.

Ruth’s Kitchen is my favourite place to eat in Norwich by far!! I’ve been many times for lunch and it’s always amazing. Equally great for a sit-down lunch with friends or for a quick takeaway. Fresh ingredients, fast service, brilliant staff and very generous portions.Today we had the shakshuka which had incredible depth of flavour. Beats all the shakshukas I have tried in London restaurants! They have different specials each time I go, a nice drinks selection and sweet bites for after like tahini cookies. Everything is proper fresh and homemade. Check it out!
