The Gin Trap is one of my favourite places to chill and supp a pint. The food is unbelievably good. The staff are great. What's not to like!?!?

It's a lovely venue, foods a bit posh for me, didn't really know what anything was on the menu, desserts were small and over priced and i love desserts. But in a good atmosphere, maybe the menu could have a bit more range.Staff were polite and friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. Dogs are allowed in which I totally agree with. It's a traditional countryside venue.

Visited the gin trap inn for a their 2 night stay deal. Room was beautifully decorated, spacious and kitted out with everything you could need including a G+t each, homemade cakes, shortbread and cookies which were a lovely touch. Our dinner in the restaurant from the a la carte menu was very special, quality food, proper fine dining. The meal included complimentary bread, canapés and a little cake. Congratulations on your third rosette too! The attention to detail and finesse to the menu warrants this merit. The staff couldn’t do more for you, all extremely friendly and chatty but still maintaining that fine dining service experience.Every member of team was on top form and together ran a very slick service from the reception to breakfast the next morning.Could not recommend this place enough for a special night or two away.

The Gin Trap Inn was a great experience, which gets my highest recommendation. It had a great atmosphere, with welcoming staff and superb food, which we happily enjoyed during our time there.Myself and my wife both had a starter and main, which also included complimentary tasters (bread and cultured butter, and smoked codroe canope). All of which was very tasty and left me wanting much, much more.Though there were plenty of tables, it was very relaxed and easy to have a conversation during the entire meal.In terms of drinks, as you can expect with the name, you have many options available either to have during your meal or at the bar.My only problem was the parking - we arrived at a peak lunchtime hour and while there is parking in front, it was busy and we only just got a parking spot.Overall, it is highly recommended, and I will definitely consider going back again.

Fabulous one night birthday stay as present from daughters. So surprised to see room decorated with balloons, bunting and birthday card. Complementary g&t too. Lovely place, lovely food, lovely staff - couldn't fault it. Highly recommended. Steve and

Edit after owners response: To be clear, we enjoy food from [literal] street food through to fine dining, we were not looking for pub food, we were looking for a good experience whatever that may be. But the 'fine dining' at the gin trap missed the mark. One of the mains was frankly dull and two others just average, but overpriced compared to other comparable venues and the service lower, so the equation couldn't provide a positive review. That was the opinion of all the diners at our table. I encourage you also to research reviews and not to dismiss those you don't wish to hear, the readers will make their own mind up.After many years of enjoying the Gin Trap, our recent experience was very disappointing. A meal in the restaurant could be summarised as overpriced and underwhelming. The fish dish looked quite sad on the plate and un-exciting, the steak was OK. A variety of different servers creating an impersonal service, none of which were attentive. This is a real shame, the bar area looked just as cosy so may pop in again for a drink but will unfortunately move onto other places in the area for a meal.

Walk in on new years day, staff all feeling the effects of the late night and early start. Excellent service and the food was unbelievable. Full of flavour and reasonably priced 5*

What a great place to eat. Absolutely fabulous food in a great old building. I had French Onion soup, which was lovely, especially with its delicious cheese bread roll. This was followed by the Chicken, leek and ham pie. This was served on a bed of creamy, buttery mash with a really deep tasting gravy. Wonderful. Superb service to boot so can’t complain one bit.

Once again I have seen that the Gin Trap serves the best Sunday roast in Norfolk but unfortunately not in our case. We stayed on the excellent value sleepover deal as we were visiting Holkham Hall on the Monday. No complaints on the room which was lovely and we had a drink in the bar which had a good atmosphere and the barman made one of the best Bloody Mary's I've had for a long time. We had a lovely corner table in the restaurant and the duck and crab starters very good. However the roast sirloin was overcooked far from the pink in the photos and SO fatty (seemed to be end of joint?) I returned mine to the kitchen from where I don't know how it was ever allowed to leave!! Husband ploughed on he's not one to complain!! They did offer to replace but he's then eating and I'm sat waiting. Besides I'd actually ate some and veg before I gave up so didn't really want to start another plate. Didn't bother with desserts or cheese as past it. They had taken the one meal off at checkout but left disappointed as we had planned a long leisurely lunch.
