Always an excellent experience with super food and service. We often visit the Whelk when in Sheringham and look forward to being treated well

Found this gem by accident whilst walking the dog on a cold dull day. Staff very welcoming when we entered and was shown to a table. We both chose the Stilton and mushrooms on sourdough toast. It was delicious and so were the two lattes. Really wanted to sample the scones but unfortunately was to full. Will have to re visit on my next holiday.

Lovely little spot - especially on a November day - nice and warm in temperature and atmosphere.Had the best Belgian dark hot chocolate and a homemade sausage roll. Will definitely add to our coffee stop list and can definitely recommend.

We visited when staying locally, after a lovely stroll along the seafront, we came across this delightful cafe. A popular choice as we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to be free, but the staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming..apologising for the wait (for which they didn't need to as it wasn't a long time and we enjoyed the view while we waited) An extensive menu with savoury and sweet choices including home made cakes awaited us, along with teas, coffees, hot chocolate and cold drinks. Bakewell tart and Toffee Pecan Blondie caught our eye, and had soon arrived with our hot drinks. The cakes were as delicious as they looked. The menu also has interesting information on how the cafe got its name! We would definitely come back when next in the area, and will be going to try their sister cafe (The Wandering Whelk in Holt)

Nice place to visit nice food but seems expensive to other places in the area. Also they had ran out of London Pride my favourite but the alternative was ok.

What a great place! So welcoming plus delicious food. Really busy on a grey November day, I'm not surprised

This fabulous cafe was just around the corner from us on our holiday, how lucky for us! We had breakfast there twice. We were warmly welcomed and the service was great. Both times the food was delicious my husband had a meaty breakfast and I had poached eggs, avocado and smoked salmon on toast. No problem swapping sourdough for granary or himself swapping eggs for beans. It is dog friendly and the view is beautiful. My husband also highly recommends the sausage roll with piccalilli. One of the best cafes I've been to for ages.

Everyone was so friendly and kind toward us making us feel really welcome. The cafe is very comfortable (if a tiny bit cramped when busy) and has a nice range of feel good food. Perfect place to stop when it’s a bit blustery or rainy

Only place I visited in North Norfolk that I think justifies it's impressive overall rating - very good food. Only dived in, during heavy rain, to warm up having not planned to eat. But then we after rounds of: crab sandwiches, cooked breakfasts, coffees, brownies, cherry bakewells we were all warm and satisfied - all food was fantastic. Service not only superb but very friendly. Excellent value and only eaterie in N-Norfolk id return to. ------ Only downside was: we got unlucky to find ourselves seated next to a table of highly neurotic townies determined to pass on their histrionic phobia of dogs to their young children. In fairness to them, they were equally unlucky to have us wet and be-dogged plonked next to them. So, it meant I had to eat whilst keeping my harmless dog on tight leash so as not to give neighbouring table mass panic attack..... But - as said - in fairness to these needlessly alarmed, dogophobic co-diners, there is nothing worse than having to eat next to people with potentially unruly and bitey dogs/kids, so walking home I saw their point of view. If you find yourself sat next to them with a dog, go easy on them and apologize from me too. Great place to grab lunch.

Really glad we stopped in here for lunch. The town was busy and we had a fairly large group, with a couple of vegans too... so finding somewhere to eat isn't always straightforward!First thing to note here was that the service was outstanding - welcoming, friendly, and really efficient. All things that can't be taken for granted. The menu was different to what you get from most cafes/restaurants - I went for the Mushrooms & Stilton, which was really quite delicious. All the other orders in our group - breakfasts, sandwiches etc, all looked great too.

We only stumbled upon this fantastic eatery as the Submarine cafe was closed for the season. Very prompt service , seating inside and out too. Hada great pot of tea for two with Teapigs tea (fantastic). I had the Vege breakfast my wife had the sausage sandwich both with the choice of white, granary, or sourdough bread. One of the best breakfasts Ive ever had - each item loving cooked for individual flavours. A small but important (for me) point, served on HOT plates. Great especially if you sit outside. This is our goto place from now on and best of all its open all year.
