I came across this pub after a walk. The food is out of this world! The prawns were amazing and the fish was on point. Would really recommend stopping here.

It was our first visit, but probably our last too. It's a cosy pub with free parking. The staff were friendly. Food was good, but the portion needed to be bigger. £18 for the beef Sunday roast - fancy plating but hardly any sides. Only a tiny ramekin bowl of vegetables was given and to be shared for a table of four. We left the pub feeling unsatisfied and still hungry. Spent slightly more than £100 on food and drink. Considering the price point, we were expecting a sizeable portioning. Sadly, for this reason, we won't be returning.

First visit and won’t be the last. A great atmosphere in a lovely old pub. I enjoyed a risotto which was delicious. It would be nice to have a greater vegetarian choice. The staff were very friendly. Service wasn’t quick but in their defence the pub was very busy. Thank you for a great lunch

The kind of local pub that you dream of coming across. Old, charming, really well run by people with passion and knowledge, welcoming, unpretentious and unique. We came for a drink and loved it, then came back for food the next day and loved it more. Not cheap but very, very good value for money.Highly recommended ⭐⭐?⭐⭐

Had a Sunday roast, although there was plenty of meat,it only came with over cooked roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding, the veg was also disappointing,it was the only pub/restaurant that wanted to charge £20 to take your own birthday cake, this has never happened before,we would have had a dessert but not on principal, needless to say will not be going again

Whilst the food was delicious and plentiful, it remains costly, as does the alcohol although it is kept well.Another issue is the continuance of a large collar on the beer, however, it is likely that I will return time and time again.

The team at The Chequers are welcoming and the food is great, both inside and outside areas are beautifully maintained and the atmosphere is brilliant. Would highly

Fire lit meeting with good friends and great food. Never disappoints.

Very disappointed. Food well cooked but variety lackingThe manager must have been having an off day as not very welcoming.Wont go back again despite 35 years going there off and

A nice pub with a good menu. However the owners seem to think anyone who looks a bit foreign is in the 'tarmac driveway business' because of a local issue. You couldn't be more wrong or bigoted.

Great little village pup, quirky interior, open log fire, very friendly staff and clientele, food was good and portions were very generous. Will be going
