I used the van on Friday night when it reached Low Row in Swaledale. I placed my order for cod and chips, fish cake and small chips as well as portions of mushy peas and curry sauce. It was cooked to order so be patient. All of that for £15. I actually enjoyed standing in the open with the other local customers whilst my order was cooked. I can honestly say these were the finest fish and chips I have had in many years. The fish was cooked to perfection with a thin, not greasy golden batter, and the chips ( cooked in beef dripping were absolutely perfect ).The ‘small chips’ was in fact a decent portion If there was a national award for fish and chips this would be the winner by a country mile. Was really looking forward to this after reading the reviews, unfortunately we were left quite disappointed. The service was quick and kind, and the van is lovely, menu is great and the prices are good.However, the fish (cod and haddock) was absolutely bone dry, it tasted like it was warmed up or severely overcooked.I appreciate that for quick service fish and chips may be fried in advance, but I’d really rather wait a bit for juicy freshly cooked fish.The chips were probably fine, I will never really get used to what the UK calls chips, being from the continent, but if you like them that way I think these were good. The taste was nice but they were pretty soft.Mostly just let down very much by the fish.

Great prices and excellent food. Wonderful it is providing a community service for the remote villages in the dales. We were touring in the area but tracked it down.

Absolutely gorgeous food! We are from West Yorkshire and have already said we will drive up to the dales and eat them in the car just to have them again ? great prices too considering the uniqueness of the service, and lovely welcome from those serving! 10/10

Fantastic fish and chips. The fish batter was light and tasty and the chips were perfect. As we were on holiday we just had to try the Wensleydale cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended ?

We were at Cow Close caravan park Leyburn. The van arrived on site. The menu was easily visible, the prices are very reasonable. We ordered cod and chips and didn't have to wait. There were no complaints about the quality or quantity, they were delicious.
