Amazing teas. Beautiful service. Great selection of foods on the menu. Prices are fair. Would come back & highly recommend.

I am so disappointed with my experience with 'Betty's ' . I spent a lot of money to surprise my father with one of Betty's birthday cakes, and when it arrived, it looked cheap and unappealing. It was also no bigger than the palm of my hand. When I complained about the poor quality, I was told I was wrong. No thought to how much of my hard earned money I'd spent or the embarrassment caused by this tiny cake for my father's 70th. Some companies really don't care and are clearly happy to rip people off, living off an outdated reputation.Very upsetting experience. Never again. I'd recommend going elsewhere. Photos of what was expected v what arrived. When the cellophane came off, the whole cake fell apart, too. So disappointed.

Far to expensive and not value for money also people in there taking silly pictures for social media means it lacks class to anyone with actual real class

The hot chocolate isn’t what it used to be. In the hot chocolate caddy box there were the usual chocolate shavings, but this time only in the top layer. Below it was cheap chocolate powder, maybe 90% of the contents, which is not what you expect when you buy a premium product for £14. Well below the mark. I won’t be buying this again and I’ll inform my friends who have been fans up until now.

Lovely place with yummy food and polite staff. I personally preferred the main to the dessert. Waiter Adam has been very patient with sorting out our bill, thank you again for today!

Arrived 7.30am to be first in on Xmas eve. Second year running. Been visiting Bettys nearly 30 years in other locations. The staff at Harlow are so so warm and welcoming. The rosti and other breaksfast items are exquisite. Pricey but feels luxury and a treat. The quality of ingredients… just the entire feeling of ‘special treat’ makes it worth every penny.

Although very busy,a trip to Betty's is a must. The food is delicious and plentiful, there is a wide choice of snack, sandwiches and lunches. There is also a great variety of teas and coffee's

Could do with a rain cover for the queue outside. Also ceiling sound reducing panels as its pretty noisy inside. Nice food but very expensive.

Since moving the entrance to the rear exit door the restaurant is freezing cold. The building was not designed to have this door constantly opened and they must be wasting a lot of energy with the heat being let out.Being so cold really impacted the experience of eating there. Lots of people sat in coats and scarfs clutching hot drinks to try and get warm.

This was a birthday celebration so to be greeted by a long wait at a back fire door in the cold and drizzle (there is a covered area and staff provide umbrellas) was not a great start. I suspect this system is a hangover from Covid times - not pleasant for customers especially in winter - I suspect it’s easier for staff but this needs a significant rethink. Once we were inside the room temperature was just about adequate IF we hadn’t been out in the cold for so long. The Christmas decorations were absolutely minimal and the look of the tea rooms and the overall atmosphere felt tired and lacklustre. Staff were lovely and the food was ok . . . come on Bettys - you can do better than this!

For me, any cafe or restaurant has to be value for money. So a cup or pot of tea costing over £2 brings out the tight Yorkshireman much to the frustration of my wife (Mrs. Meldrew!!). The invitation therefore, to meet up with family members at Bettys Cafe by Harlow Carr Gardens filled me with horror as I had previously deliberately avoided Bettys Tea Rooms knowing the price of a pot of tea for one was more than £4.50!!!!! "Extortion" I would cry. "I don't believe it"! When the day arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the professional welcome, that booking was not necessary, and the ambiance was special but certainly not pretentious. I kept to my plan of ordering a tap water with my sandwich whilst others in our party ordered teas and coffees which were delivered to our table by smart and efficient waiting staff. Catching up conversation with family members meant we weren't aware of the time until a member of the waiting staff informed us that the food we ordered was taking a little longer than their usual standards and would we like a complimentary drink? I didn't hesitate to ask for a pot of tea please?!!!!!! The food that came shortly afterwards was delicious. Some in our party ordered from the dessert menu and the bill for 5 adults came to £88 (just short of £16 per head). It is an "Experience" going to Bettys Tea Rooms and in addition to the delicious food/ drinks and pleasant surroundings, Bettys' waiting staff have clearly mastered that unique art of making customers feel special. Please accept my apologies for my misconceptions.
