We live in Harrogate and this is definitely not a 4.6 star. I notice that a lot of 5 stars have been given within the last two months, and any review older is by a ‘Guide’. We are honest, with no axe to grind. The food is abysmal, unless you go for the Sunday’s roast in the afternoon. The pub is lovely and the staff are kids trying hard so can’t knock them. Steak cold, so much so the butter stood solid on it. The mushrooms were shrivelled. Have a look at the Butter Chicken which someone recently said was the best sandwich they had. Obviously a fake review. We paid half price as per the deal - still not worth it. The reply will be sorry to hear, however, instead of saying this, improve your food. There’s too much competition. Please look at the photo. Embarrassing. I promise this is what it looked like.

We had a fantastic overnight stay here, including dinner and breakfast. The staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly, the room clean and comfortable and the food fantastic. I'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting Harrogate.

The room was when we got there. No kids bed so had to change rooms. They said when we arrived we had only paid for one room not two when we had paid for two.The food was cold my soup had lumps of butter in it not melted and freezing. The turkey dinner had rawKale burnt potatoes coldTurkey warmed in microwave. No customer service. There was glass on the floor in the room. It cut my husbands hand. The doors locked at night on the hallway so you were stuck unless you used a very Lonley fire exit. We weren’t toldAbout this and my mum was on a diff floor. Not good for Christmas service at all.We were meant to stay another night but came home as it was so bad.Breakfast was disgusting no effort made and cold.£525 spent and wasted. Disgusted.

A visit with family for Xmas dinner:The service associated with the guy serving at the table was excellent. He was pleasant and attentative. The starter was delicious and well proportioned and very tasty. The main course was served on cold plates, each of the 6 of us had unequal portions. For example, some had sprouts some didn't have any and they were not cooked. The vegetables had a rubbery texture. The meat looked and tasted like it had not been freshly cooked, just warmed up and looked machine sliced as it was perfectly even. In general the food tasted as though it had been kept warm for a few hours before serving. The food was presented in one heap; everything on top of each other. I can only assume this is an attempt at artistic talent. When the dessert arrived, we were given tea spoons. When we asked for a dessert spoon. We were told that they had none left that were washed. The whole experience gave me the impression that the food was cooked and presented in a commercial way without consideration given to presentation, and palatability. It was a meal I have learned to expect from a ready meal.It wasn't a meal I would have expected from an expensive, well establish, premium restaurant. The company, which we provided ourselves and ambiance of venue was the most positive part of the experience.

Late to our table, room was a mess with leftovers of a party. Food was poor. Fish and chips, the chips were few and scraps. Not value for money as plates of food basic and draught beers run out. A shambles.

We visited for my birthday and was given a room upgrade. It was our 3rd stay at the Pine Marten. The atmosphere is always very welcoming and the staff are always very polite and attentive.

We were a bit disappointed with the Pine Marten. The serving staff, although very polite, seemed a bit tired and ready to go home. The food did not live up to expectations, possibly for the same reasons from the kitchen.

We both had the buttermilk chicken burger and it probably the best chicken burger I’ve ever had. Staff were great, very helpful and friendly. Desserts were delicious (sticky toffee pudding and trio of cheesecakes). A bit more expensive than average pub meals but the food and atmosphere were far better than average. Would highly recommend.

Delicious food, excellent Sunday roast of pork belly, probably the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve had all year and amazing chocolate melting bomb thing!! (I could have eaten it twice over!)

Great experience on a Sunday night. Excellent service, orders taken quickly but not rushed. Food arrived in good time and was delicious. Desserts also lovely.

Lovely interior, good service, but food could be better. Sea bass skin not crisp, little flavour to veg accompaniments or lamb, sweet potato in curry undercooked. OK overall but could be good.Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu and no fuss.

Everything was great, especially ALL the staff with whom we came into contact. Great accommodation and great food. Relaxing ambience and ideally placed for our two day break.

We went here for a Sunday roast and it was lovely. Tucked in a cosy corner with the dog. The large pub doubled up as a hotel. The staff were attentive. Special call out for the nut roast, one of the best I’ve ever had as I tend to find them dry. The pork was lovely as

We chose the Wine & Dine menu, it was excellent value for money, the choice was really good selection and the food was very tasty and hot! Service was really good, staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, the atmosphere was great too, very welcoming.
