What a fantastic hotel, the building is fabulous inside and out. We spent one night here and would definitely recommend it. Our room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities, a very large bathroom with a bath with shower over. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice. There is parking outside the hotel but with 115 rooms it soon fills up, and it's an overnight charge of £12.50, we couldn't get on there but we parked 2 minutes away in a pay and display for £7.50 for 24 hours. The hotel is only a short walk to bars and restaurants etc and of course Bettys tea room. Loved this hotel highly recommend it.

Lovely, traditional, old hotel. Great to walk on the creaking floors and see examples of history and old newspapers framed on the walls. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely. We also had an afternoon tea, which was included in the offer I got. I had upgraded the room, although the room was large, it could do with decorating and the bed wasn't very comfortable. We did ask and got an extra quilt to lie on, which helped. The room wasn't particularly warm, this is due to the old windows. I would stay here again.

A lovely old and dated hotel situated in the centre of Harrogate. Clearly in its time this was the place to stay. It is a huge traditional hotel in a superb location. You have to expect that it will be quirky , the rooms vary in size and the floorboards creak, it must be an enormous expense to heat the building and maintain it, however it is well worth the experience and the room rates are very reasonable compared to other hotels. Parking on site is limited but you can park nearby for 24 hours at a cheaper rate. Breakfast was excellent and all the staff very helpful. We found our room comfortable and spacious. Overall could not fault anything for the price. Must compliment the management and staff for maintaining this classic old hotel.

It is an old hotel and the floors creak like crazy. You cannot walk and not hit a warped floorboard. The rooms are random sizes, some are tiny and oddly shaped. Its hard to charge your phone, electrical outlets are not very plentiful. The bathrooms are updated but I had no hot water the first day. The towels are great but there's limited storage in the bathroom. Storage is the room is only in the closet to hang clothes. No luggage racks or shelves or drawers so everything ends up in the suitcase on the floor. The bedding is polyester so it's hot. The food is great and the restaurant staff is young and hard working. Special notice to Ola, Ellie, Akhil, Ayswana for their hard work.

Just got back from an amazing stay at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate, what a great little find this is, food and service where great and the bar at the end of the Hotel was a great little place to have a drink. Will be staying at the Crown next time I go back to Harrogate.

We were gifted an afternoon tea voucher for The Crown Hotel and when we went today we were very happy with the quality of the food and the service. The hotel itself is a little tired and in need of an update but the brasserie where we had tea was nice and light with lots of windows. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. I would recommend this hotel for afternoon tea.

Oh dear, where to start! First visit and wont be returning. The hotel is very tired and in need of a facelift. We found the staff very uninterested, with not one smile throughout our stay. The room was clean enough but the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Dinner in the Churchill Suite...no smiles from staff, no friendly greeting, annoying jazz music. This was then topped by a broken chair and a table that wobbled. The food was dreadful, poor quality and lukewarm. One positive to finish on...the hotel is in a good location

We usually visit Harrogate 2 to 3 times a year, often staying at Doubletree Hilton (previously Majestic) but couldn't get a room and decided to give The Crown a try. Oh dear! Stayed in room 219. Room spacious and clean but no extras such as water/biscuits/pencil/paper, common to other hotels. Step between bed and bathroom shabby and hazardous during night - a real health and safety concern. TV not working properly - intermittent picture/sound distortion but nothing done to rectify when we reported this to reception. We were informed at check out that this is a problem which is common throughout the hotel. Shower outdated and difficult to operate. We had dinner but our dining experience was very poor - table chipped, food quality not good. Disturbed sleep. Continuous sound of unwelcome outside noise into early hours and the mattress sloped towards the window. Sudden vomiting in the middle of the night accompanied by cramps and diarrhoea (no food, other than our hotel dinner, since breakfast and no alcohol involved)! Better in the morning but wouldn't risk a cooked breakfast. Also noticed people both in front and after me complaining to the receptionist about similar issues. Reception informed me that a Director would telephone me to discuss my complaints but it wasn't a surprise when he failed to do so.

Fantastic looking building outside, with obvious significant history. Inside the reception area is being modified but the communal areas look fantastic. The bedrooms are considerably different and more to a hostel standard. Check in took ages with only one person behind reception. Surely if a queue appears another person could help out. Rooms and bathrooms are very basic and at the prices being charged there are considerably better options out there.

It really needs a refurbishment. Our rooms furniture was old and cheap . Pillows really uncomfortable. Cheap toilet roll . Breakfast was freezing . Our room was noisy all night due to being next do the extractor fans banging all night . Harrogate is lovely but won't stay here again

We had our wedding reception here. From the minute we arrived at the hotel the staff were above excellent. The attention we received from the staff was amazing everything ran like a dream. The food was out of this world. Special thankyou to Joanna and Andy who couldn't have done more for us and made our day absolutely amazing. If your looking for a wedding venue stop looking you've have found it at The Crown. I would give more stars if I could.

The hotel offers 1st come 1st serve parking. Disabled parking comes free. The car park will feel tight to some drivers. Booking in is not until 3pm but I found it straight forward. The staff always smiling and friendly. We stayed in one the Assisted rooms, 154 on the 1st floor accessed by a lift and a short walk. The window view is of brick walls which never bothered us. The room is spacious, clean, bright with the customary disabled walk in shower. The floor gets partly flooded but I never felt uneasy walking on it. We found the room surroundings quiet. The bed was 2 pushed together as one making a Queen Ann size. The mattress supportive, not too low or high for me. With the aged building the room is not air conditioned so with very poor summer weather when we stayed it became hot and cold. The television could do with being a lot bigger to complement the room size. Other than that, well satisfied and would stay again without hesitation. Location is ideal. Ignore Google maps and use the road immediately left to use a road less steep to get to local shops, food and pubs especially the Indian restaurants.

We stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel very pleasant and peaceful We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good and the restaurant staff were very helpful and cheerful. (Lily & Ola ) also, the bar staff were equally as good. We would have liked that cheerfulness to have been passed on to the breakfast team. The hotel interior could do with a little refresh and a couple of the curtains were stained (Bedroom & Lounge in the bar area).

We booked this hotel as part of a deal that included tickets to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens. We read previous reviews and were a little concerned.......but.....please don't be put off!!! Reception staff were pleasant, helpful and welcoming. Room was perfectly adequate......yes the floorboards creaked......but it's a very old building! It was clean, lovely toiletries and bedding! Breakfast was plentiful, hot and tasty! Fruit salad and pastries were fresh. Would we stay again......most definitely!
