Fabulous fish dishes. Had scallops to start and them a massive trout. All was delicious. They also do a Two course set menu at lunch.

This perfect fish restaurant serves wonderfully tasty food and the staff are all friendly and attentive without being over the top. We will be visiting again and we highly recommend it.

The food was quite good, but definitely overpriced. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Our waiter was patient and kind, I was with two elderly people, who were at ease, however; the waiter was poorly trained. Not once did they wal round the table to set down food or drinks, and there was plenty of room to.Every plate and glass landed with a crash and my father-in-law and wife got a lot of armpit in their face, however, as I said he was very pleasant and patient so no-one was perturbed, but it was comical at times.I would go back, but not frequently.

Sadly our experience was not good. White wine served just cool, not cold. King scallop starter had 3 of the smallest king scallops we've ever been served and actually wondered if one of them had been sliced in half. The main course hot shellfish bowl was truly poor and actually a bit of a concern. The quality and freshness of the prawns was low, the clams were overcooked, as we're the cotton wool like langoustine, the queen scallops whilst plentiful were ill prepared retaining black veins and overcooked, the mussels and king prawns were fine but the real concern was the crab claw. It was not scrubbed and was very dirty - I could scrape the mud off with my fingernail. When our waitress came to ask if we were enjoying our meal I mentioned my concern that the crab was dirty and it may have contaminated the wine and garlic broth (the best bit of the dish). She went to the kitchen and returned to say another claw was being prepared but not to worry about the broth as the crab was prepared by soaking in vinegar (and something else, but my brain stopped listening after the shock of vinegar) so there would be no germs! When the replacement claw arrived, it was even dirtier than the first and as it had already been cracked I could see the flesh inside was grey and pulpy. I did not eat it. I would urge the chef to review the preparation and quality of ingredients for this particular dish as it really let the restaurant down.

We went to this lovely restaurant during Harrogate Food Week, and the offer was amazing value, and the food was first class

Couldn't fault it, I've been to the south of France and gone to seafood restaurants and they were not as good as this one.The mussels were amazing and the Halibut was superb washed down with a decent bottle of wine of course. They have an extensive menu and the seafood is so Fresh. The Service was also brilliant ??????

Five Star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SeafoodNestled within Montpellier Gardens in Harrogate, Drum & Monkey is a beacon for seafood enthusiasts seeking an exquisite dining experience. From stepping through the front door, it was evident that this restaurant was more than just a place to dine ~ it was a culinary journey of seafood delight. Our starters comprised of Mushroom Risotto and a half-dozen Lindisfarne Oysters. The risotto, creamy and infused with the earthy flavour of mushrooms, set the tone for what was to follow. The freshness of the Lindisfarne Oysters was a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients. Our main courses were delightful. The Sea Bream, bathed in a shrimp and parsley sauce, accompanied by velvety Dauphinois potatoes was delicious. Faultless. The Hot Shellfish Bowl of crevettes, prawns, crab claw, queenies, langoustines, oysters, mussels, and clams harmoniously danced in a wine and butter sauce was nothing short of divine.Drum & Monkey’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the plate. The ambiance, with its inviting decor and warm lighting, created a relaxed atmosphere. The attentive staff added to the overall experience, providing impeccable service without being intrusive.Whether you’re a seafood enthusiast or just someone looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Drum & Monkey is a must-visit.

Disappointing- took my wife’s parents for their Christmas treat. Very nice decor and friendly and attentive staff, however the meals let us all down. I had dressed crab as a starter but the only clue as to what it was, was its name. Had this been served “blind”, 10 guesses would not have been enough to identify it was crab. M&S do a better fish pie. Oh dear

We had a ladies lunch yesterday and the restaurant was fab! Beautiful food, wine and desserts. The lady who served us upstairs (sorry I forgot her name) was so funny whilst still maintaining a very high level of professionalism. Loved it and would highly recommend.
