A warm, friendly welcome upon arrival. We were given a choice of seating. Varied menu. Excellent food. Generous portions. Loved the decor. Attentive (but not overbearing)service by Michelle who was delightful. We hope to return when we are next in Harrogate.

Very very good! Love the breakfast, the coffee n cream and the berry smoothie! Staff are A1 all stars - even forgot my reading glasses and when I went back an hour or so later they presented to me and remembered us! Perfect!

Food & drink was great! We got a complimentary dessert as it was our anniversary which was a nice touch and very delicious. Our waiter was exceptional and very attentive. We really enjoyed our visit

Poor food. The starter was fatty and tasted unpleasant. The main sent back. The place is pretty but of poor quality. Stick to Betty’s next door. Simply superior.

Not particularly impressed this time. Food was average and over priced. Wines ridiculously over priced at this venue. Seemed more pretentious than normal. The chain needs a revamp as it’s looking tired .

I came here for some dinner on Wednesday evening and we had a great time. We were greeted by Olaf at the door who was very friendly and showed us to a great table. It took a while for my partner to choose what he’d like to eat as there is so much to choose from, especially when we had the choice of the a la carte and the set menu. Our drinks came very quickly and so did our food, with a good gap between each meal. I couldn’t fault the timings. We had 2 servers, both Abi and Seb who were fantastic. We actually ended up taking the service charge off and handing them a cash tip as this means they get the whole tip rather than 10p from the service charge bill. I would recommend doing this, or doing this on top of the service charge. (Card tips aren’t useful though as they get taxed so much and still end up with a small amount). I am returning in just over a week which I am looking forward to. Thanks so much.

I Visited yesterday evening with a friend for a special occasion and was left extremely disappointed. We pre booked ahead of time so was expecting a nice table -however we were showed to our seats we were placed in a corner out of the way on a tiny table despite the restaurant having plenty of spare tables . We only ordered main courses which took around 45 minutes to arrive despite watching other people being seated and their food arriving before ours. The food is extremely expensive and not worth the money - we ordered two sirloin steaks with pepper corn sauce which were tiny and for how what we paid I expected higher quality steaks . We felt on the whole due to our age (both 20)we were treated differently to the rest of the customers in there and we were pushed to the side and treated like our money wasn’t as good as other customers money. There is also a 12.5% service charge which is ridiculous, I was really disappointed with the whole experience and would not go back extremely disappointed. We didn’t complain at the time as felt intimidated but on the whole very disappointed

We had an excellent meal at The Ivy. It was a last minute booking however they managed to fit us in which was super. The cocktails were wonderful too, I think perhaps I shouldn’t have had my very last one “hic” The food was sublime and our server incredibly attentive, I feel terrible that I cannot recall his name. I do hope that the service charge goes to staff. Another reviewer wrote that the 12.5% doesn’t go to the staff and that it’s absorbed by the business, surely this is not correct? If it is the case hen the upper management need to be taken to task. Service charges are for the team not the business.

This was our first meal at The Ivy. We were expecting first class food and service. We were seated promptly and given menus. I just wish they had informed us of the out of stock dishes and also what the soup was at this time. Within 3 mins of receiving the menus we were approached to order, we explained we weren’t ready but did order drinks. We continued to wait another 20mins but the said waiter continued to ignore us. Eventually we managed to get the attention of a waitress who took our order. The soup was delicious My husband didn’t have a starter as the dish he wanted was sold out. The main course I had was wild mushroom linguini. It’s the worst pasta dish I have ever been given, it was swimming in grease and completely inedible, after complaining it was taken away with an apology. My husband ate his main course alone while I had to sit and watch. Eventually we managed to secure a dessert menu….25 minutes later our order still hadn’t been taken so we asked for the bill. When it arrived of course there were mistakes which had to be amended, I asked that the service charge be removed, which I disagree with anyway…I think it’s damn cheeky, tips should be earned not expected. All in all it was a terrible meal, dreadful service and I will never ever visit The Ivy again, no matter which city I’m in I will avoid it like the plague.

The Ivy does not pay card payment tips or service charges to the staff. The 12.5% service charge is optional and can be removed on request - this fee is being used to subsidise the bosses profits. The food is perfectly average and does not match the price point they are asking. The redeeming feature of the experience was our server, a young server who was polite and attentive. I was shocked to find out from another member of staff that the service charge does not go to the staff. The management and owners should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Tips and service charges are for the staff and should be paid in full over and above their hourly rate. Anything less than this is theft and disingenuous towards the customers.

Rated this very highly. Lovely staff, the menu was varied. I had the duck liver parfait which was divine. Good choice of wines too. Sensibly priced.

Had a fabulous meal here a couple of nights ago. The Yorkshire show was on so it was extremely busy. Great ambience. Food was a cut above, I had pate, then scallops, amazing. Impeccable presentation. Staff very attentive and courteous. Even though it was busy, food was served quickly, with a pleasant interlude between courses. Highly recommend, and if we return nxt year will definitely book again. Would definitely recommend.

Visited for breakfast for our wedding anniversary. The selection and quality of food was excellent, the welcome as well as the service we received was 5 star. Thank you for making a lovely day even more memorable. We'll be back again soon.
