“The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, especially the mango chicken on flatbread and the omelette was also made really well, nice and tasty. Choice of cakes was good and also very tasty. Would definitely come again if we’re passing through the area again.”

“Had a couple of decent sandwiches sat in the courtyard in the sun. Extremely good value, friendly owner and great service - better than service we've received in so called upmarket restaurants. Thank you.”

“Stopped for 2 nights in a glamping pod in the pod village. Dined in the cafe when we were there, several times. Food was delicious and good portion sizes.Good selection. Cafe was clean and well maintained. Lovely service from everyone, but especially from Liv (?) who I got the impression manager, or senior, for the cafe. The Lord Stones rocks and a great lookout point are literally a 2 minute walk from the cafe. A bit steeper walk takes you up the hill to the Alec Flconer memorial seat. And what views!! So worth the uphill walk to see the chair and the views. We did walk further to the Wainstones and got lost coming back. (Don't ask) A kind local brought us back in his car to the campsite and Liv was kind enough to look after us when we got back. There is a little onsite shop that sells a good range of stuff from camping essentials you may have forgot like toothbrush, sunscreen, poo bags for the dog etc as well as lovely items for gifting like gin, souvenirs etc snacks and nibbles, knick knacks for the kids and farm shop stuff like game and bacon, cheese. Items were very reasonably priced, too. Enjoyed a couple of pints sat outside in the sun, watching the numerous birds feeding at the feeding stations. The pod village was lovely and private, gated off and surrounded by trees, with pond areas and replica Lordstones in a bench area that had what was a water fountain feature (but wasn't working). Pod had good amenities for your stay. If I had one criticism regarding our stay it would just be that the pod needed a smidge of tlc - a good brush down of the exterior firstly, as first impressions walking up to it was how covered in cobwebs and dead crusty daddy longlegs it was- more than the other pods, for some reason. (We were in Curlew pod) I'm more than aware they are exposed to the elements etc but wouldn't take 2 minutes to brush of cobwebs. Would have done it myself but no brush was available. Light above bed was broke and ceilling bulb had one blown, 1 loose, the ash bucket missing to clean out log burner or bbq and external light wasn't working. Just little details that could easily be sorted, but slightly detracted from the 'luxury glamping' description. Would definitely stop again, but maybe next time we'll try a round house to see how they compare to the pods, and at weekend when the Belted Bull restaurant is open, as would love to dine there. Overall, a fantastic place, ideally situated for some pleasant walks with amazing views, and then a good base to come back to for good food, drinks and relaxation. *cafe closes at 4pm but have to get food orders in by 3pm. Someone needs to have a refresh of the website too, and sort contradicting/out of date info. Eg Says restaurant is open on a Thursday, but isn't anymore. Only Friday and Saturday, in spring and summer. We'd probably not have booked the dates we did had we known, as wed booked expecting to eat there on the Thursday. Says Round houses are bookable upto 28th October on one page and only the 5th of October on another.”
