“This is one of the few pubs in North Yorks with a good range of ales/ ciders and European beers) ”
“We attended a wedding in October. The building has a fabulous character with wooden floors and unique decorations that includes a plane hanging from the ceiling. The service was excellent from the booking to the next morning's breakfast. The staff were serving with a smile, nothing was too much trouble, even though they worked continuously with a new staff member as well. The food was really good, well presented and the serving well organised. We both worked in hospitality for over 20 years, and even given the challenges of the building, housekeeping has done a fantastic job too! I could not fault a thing. Even in the busiest times they had a smile and time for a chat. Some of the rooms overlook the Cathedral. I can definitely recommend The Old Deanery, and we will be back. Thank you for your hard work!Rooms: Some has garden views some overlooks the cathedral. Very clean, lots of mirrors.Walkability: Found the stairs a bit challenging, but just took it slow.”
“Had a Deli Board for 2 Saturday lunch time, it was great. As was the service, a very enjoyable afternoon we will certainly visit again.”
“Huge open beer garden which is nice in good weather. Inside is small. Nice for a pint or two.”
“So pleased to find a local pub that provided real options for vegetarian, dairy and gluten free. The sticky toffee pudding was particularly delicious. The nut roast was tasty and moist and came with a generous portion of vegetables.”
“Had a pint here, friendly service and not too expensive. Sat at the outside tables right next to the roaring river, which have a great view up towards the Cathedral.”
“Tour was superb. Interesting how they still make beer using same tooling, machines and craft skills of old. The attached Black Bull in Paradise offers all the ales, served as they are meant to be. Super small quaint pub and fully stocked Theakston gift shop. Essential visit for the serious beer drinker.”
“It can be hard to find vegan options so was great to have a whole menu to choose from. I had the vhish shop butty andy pattern the gyro. Both were really tasty. Would definitely go back to try more dishes. Excellent service too.”
“Dear Owners, I've tried contacting you via the email on the website (but it bounces back) and tried calling but the line doesn't connect. Can you please advise the best way to get in touch? I'd like to make a booking.”
“Food was great. A lovely, proper country pub. We were well looked after and served really good pub grub! Will be back!”
