Decided to take my family for a New Years Eve meal to this restaurant. We usually use the Harrogate Portofino but fancied a change of venue. (Big Mistake). I ordered a fresh calamari starter which wasn't fresh!! Very chewy, not good. My wife ordered goats cheese starter with Chilli Jam. That was no way Chilli Jam, it was definitely a strawberry jam. Undeterred we waited for our mains to arrive. And we waited and waited until after some serious prodding and a full hour later our mains arrived. By this time I just wanted to go home. This experience is in complete contrast to what we have experienced at the Harrogate restaurant. I won't be going back.

We ordered a takeaway from here and chose the half pasta, half pizza option. The restaurant was very accommodating to our extra requests. The food was plentiful, tasty and fresh. Highly recommended.

Our first time in Ripon so our first time in Potofino. We called in for lunch after visiting the beautiful Cathedral. We were greeted by Martin and from our first contact with him and Christian we were made to feel at home. The restaurant had real atmosphere and for a Monday Lunchtime was well supported. Two of us had The Italian burger one the pasta all tasty and well presented. Our fourth member had smoked fish and rice , which she sai it was the best she ever had. We are already planning a return visit

We visited Portofino’s tonight with my elderly parents. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating, seating us in a quieter part of the restaurant. The food was delicious and huge portions so we’ve brought some home! Thank you all for a lovely evening.

this restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. It's a great place to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine. Today we went as a group of 8 and tried the Sunday roast. it was to die for! Give it a try!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Ripon but we hadn’t been for a while for various reasons. Food and service was excellent as always but I was shocked at how much the prices have gone up since I last visited. I know that prices have gone up everywhere so of course I was expecting to pay more but a pint of lager was £5 last time I went and now it is £6.45!! That’s more like London prices, not Ripon! The food is always good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Food prices are probably on a par with other restaurants now but the drinks are a bit high.

Even on a busy Saturday evening the service and food were outstanding. This place never disappoints and we visit regularly and it’s always fabulous! 10/10

Absolutely incredible food and the most wonderful staff. The best restaurant in Ripon by far. The portions are big and the quality of the food first class. Fantastic atmosphere. Very busy restaurant so definitely recommend booking but they also take walk ins and always do best to accommodate everyone. The Steak is to die for, melts in the mouth and so reasonably priced. Children always welcome, the kids meals are incredible. Really no words could do justice for how good this restaurant is.

I love this place! The food is amazing, the portions are large but yet very reasonably priced, leading to fantastic value for money. The atmosphere is lovely, rustic and cosy (in a good way!), the place is always busy but yet not loud. They do great offers on the food by way of being able to have half of one thing and half of another e.g half a spaghetti and half a pizza or parmo and happy our offers. The staff are friendly and the food arrives in good time even when it's busy. When a place is busy and it's often essential to book even on a Tuesday night, you know they're doing something right! Keep up the amazing work guys. Can't wait to visit again for the lord knows how many'th time! (The picture is of one of their pizzas (the Diavolo) I got as a takeaway during covid. Yes, you can collect food too!)Vegetarian options: My girlfriend and her mum are both veggies (and her mum has to have gluten free aswell) and they were very happy with the selection they had to chose from)
