A great and welcoming dining experience, where the staff make you feel very special. The food was excellent, and a real credit to the whole team involved. I'm sure we will be back again.

Lovely food and great service from Chloe and the team. Very proactive on accommodation of allergy for my partner. Some cracking wines on the wine flight.

We’ve just been for a delicious Sunday roast at The Old Deanery. Food, wine and service all top notch. Three courses for £38 isn’t bad value at all given the quality. The dining room is light and airy but still cozy and had a lovely calm atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.

On so many levels this place NEEDS to go on your to do list. The renovation is breathtaking, from walking in the front door welcomed by a huge open fire, to the atmospheric and sense of occasion of the chefs table to walking through into the exquisite dining room. The professional but welcoming friendly and knowledgable staff. The playlist! Designed to accompany your journey through your tasting adventure and importantly adds an upbeat ambience. Some absolute belters. And of course the food. Course upon course of taste sensation and presentation. The whole experience is breathtaking and a fabulous night out. Thank you

We have just got home after spending 2 nights at the Old Deanery, what an amazing experience! The place itself is beautiful and the staff are a fantastic team that can't do enough to make your time there very special. They are all very friendly and very professional. Alex is a great manager and Chloe a great restaurant manager. We ate there on our first evening. The food was fresh, quality and local produce, cooked superbly by Adam and the other chefs and presented beautifully. Everything was done with love and care and was an all-round, delicious sensory experience. My favourites were the venison tartar and the halibut. Each course was presented with a detailed description and a wine pairing was available. Chloe is also very good at recommending beautiful wines if the wine pairing isn't for you. Breakfast is a splendid going on too. Homemade granola, bread and crumpets served with cheese, meats, salmon, jam and honey followed by the usual hot breakfast served in the most unusual way, and again, using local produce and very delicious. We will soon be returning to sample the Sunday lunch!!

A wonderful weekend at The Old Deanery A warm welcome from Cat on reception and a wonderful room overlooking the Cathedral The Hotel Manager Alex was excellent - professional, friendly and so attentive along with his team. We came here for the 9 course tasting menu and we all left very impressed. The 17th century building itself is cosy and has a lovely atmospheric mix of old and new. The staff were all friendly, informative and attentive without ever being intrusive. But the star of the show was the food! All 9 courses were inventive and looked great on the plate and all delicious and full of flavour. My favourite was the halibut - see picture. A lovely touch for the chef - Adam Jackson - to personally describe the first course and then serve it to you. Well done to all involved. Highly recommended and great to see such a restaurant in Ripon.

The Old Deanery was hired as a wedding venue with accommodation over a weekend in June. It was amazing AJ and the team were great the venue was amazing, the food was brilliant and all round an amazing weekend. The location is picturesque, opposite the cathedral. I would recommend The Old Deanery for a weekend away, food and venue hire. One thing I would add is it would have been beneficial for a few more staff to have been hired for the event to help out.

We just had our wedding at The Old Deanery in October and I can't praise the venue and it's team enough.Rebecca and the dream team were so helpful throughout the whole process and were incredibly accommodating. They put our minds at ease and made our day so fantastic. The venue is beautiful, both inside and out.All the guests were well catered for and looked after. We also had A LOT of compliments from guests about how incredible the food was for both the main meal and nibbles. Many said it was the best food that they'd ever had at a wedding. And I would fully agree !Thank you so much!

Both luxury and comfort on a Sunday afternoon. We attended for a three course Sunday lunch, the service was impeccable with personable and attentive staff - what a fantastic team….. We were made to feel so welcome. The refurbishment is very impressive, neutral yet warm, simple yet striking but also has a quirkiness and creative edge. The food was just beautiful and of the expected high quality. There is attention to detail with everything so we were very impressed. The laid back atmosphere, whilst enjoying a post meal pot of tea with the snow covered cathedral out of the window and a roaring fire was exactly what we needed on a Sunday. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. So wonderful to have The Old Deanery as a go to venue again! Very well done to the team.

What a lovely hotel in a beautiful city (which very much seems more like a market town but it has a cathedral). The team were welcoming and friendly; the room was beautifully furnished and had a comfortable bed; and the food (we only had breakfast) was delicious. The hot part of the breakfast was sort of deconstructed, which made my partner say that he missed the egg white, but all parts of it were yummy. We'd return in a heartbeat.

This business has very recently reopened as a restaurant with rooms. We have been lucky enough to have just had a 2 night stay there dinner, bed and breakfast. The experience was beyond amazing. The team are trying to create a very special, unique and memorable experience and in my opinion have totally smashed it. The food is stunning, creative and exceptional. The accommodation is quirky, welcoming and cosy. The team are outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and they go way beyond the norm to ensure your stay is amazing. I don't want to be any more specific because it will spoil the surprise! We will definitely be going again and if you don't grab this experience you are really missing out. A big special thank you to Adam, Chloe and Alex - you deserve every success.
