So pleased to find a local pub that provided real options for vegetarian, dairy and gluten free. The sticky toffee pudding was particularly delicious. The nut roast was tasty and moist and came with a generous portion of vegetables.

Popped in for Sunday lunch while staying at the nearby Unicorn. This pub is just a few hundred yards from Ripon Cathedral and very close to Cathedral car park. The exterior of the pub gave no clue as to how good lunch would be. There is a dining area but being solo I chose to eat in the bar area. From the good choice of roasts (other food is available) I chose the slow roasted Belly Pork with all the trimmings. It arrived with a generous ring of Pork, a large cube of sage and onion stuffing and roast potatoes and a yorkshire pudding with a separate dish holding cauliflower cheese, cabbage, carrot and swede mash and a jug of gravy. The lunch was the best I have tasted in a long time and the yorkie was the tastiest I have eaten in any pub or restaurant. Cost of main course was £14.95. Looking at the menu for other days I shall definitely return next time I am in Ripon.

I stayed here for 6 nights and I couldn't fault the place . My room had the things you'd expect spacious bed, tv , tea coffee facilities and to top it off breakfast was included and made with the finest of ingredients the staff were also welcoming n friendly, good value for money will definitely be back

Could have been 5* Nice food, friendly staff up until we were served very dodgy coffee .. looked like mucky dishwater and lacked any kind of coffee taste, it was mentioned but nothing was offered to compensate for it or replace it. Such a shame, we'd all left it (4 of us) and they didn't seem bothered.

Came here based on a recommendation from the Chimes, as we were looking for more than lite bites and we also had our dog with us. So glad we came. Food was excellent. Best fish and chips we’ve had in a while and the other fish and vegetarian items were delicious too. So nice to have such a nice lunch at a place that is dog friendly as well.

Wonderful pub, absolutely delicious food and a FANTASTIC selection of gluten free menu items. This place does not give a half-hearted single option like most, there was so much choice and it was all delicious - good for veggies and vegans too. We were coming back from a holiday and had been fine dining the night before and we actually preferred our meal here - but that may have been the combo of good food and good portion sizes!Would absolutely recommend if you're in the area or even just passing. Also would recommend the sorbet - so much flavour ? the sticky toffee pudding was also one of the best I've had ? 10/10

Second time visiting, as new to Ripon - Sunday dinner is amazing! Son ordered from the kids menu and enjoyed it all too. Staff are really nice, service is quick, good atmosphere and a dog friendly pub. Will definitely be returning x

We booked as a group of 19 for late afternoon early evening meal pre an event we were attending. We were allocated our own space at the back of the pub which was excellent, gave us room to stand around and chat and comfortable for our large group, The food is exceptional , the wine list wonderful and well priced. The staff were efficient and friendly and the whole experience was marvellous

Stayed over as had a wedding in Ripon. Staff were all friendly and helpful, room was great - clean, spacious and had all the amenities you could need. Breakfast was also great (we hadn’t realised it was included so an added bonus). Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Ripon.

Great impromptu Sunday visit. We were actually in another town and couldn't find anywhere doing Sunday lunch though it was actually 5.15p.m. so googled and found here. Telephoned to confirm were still serving and they advised till 8 and would we like a table booking. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food delicious and plentiful. Service was very speedy and efficient. Great to know somewhere serving all day . Will definitely go again

Second visit in 2 months, this time with large group of friends. Great choice of food, I’m a coeliac but this was not a problem, large GF menu. Staff were attentive and everyone’s food was amazing, all 19 of us! Would highly recommend, the rose is delicious too!

First time at the Royal Oak and very impressed. There were four of us , including a vegetarian, and all the four dishes we had were absolutely delicious and a good size too! Excellent choice for vegetarians and gluten free. I think we were expecting standard pub fare but it went much beyond- recommend highly!
