This restaurant had been recommended plus we had seen it on TV so we were looking forward to this visit. We were not disappointed, if anything we were more than impressed. Lovely atmosphere friendly and welcoming staff. I had heard so much about the crab sandwich (as seen on TV) this was what I had planned on ordering. A customer close to us had ordered it, yes it looked everything I had imagined but after reading the menu I changed my mind, how glad I was once my meal was received. What an amazing evening with fabulous food. I love seafood but this experience had out done quite a few of my previous seafood evenings. I think my photos speak for themselves. Thank you Seaview for a memorable evening.

Took my grandson for a takeaway, we've been several times(he likes the fish)... service is always very poor, staff serving at the tills are always slow... they're in the service industry, I don't know why they don't take a bit more pride in their work. They're late to open, surly & treat customers poorly.

Was a bit reticent about joining the queue for the this restaurant but had heard so much about it and seen it on TV we decided it would be worth it. We knew you couldn’t book for lunch so thought the queue would go down quickly. The Manageress came down and went along the queue giving approx waiting times, we were told 30 mins so decided to wait. After about 45mins it became apparent that the queue wasn’t moving that quickly and that people HAD booked and were walking to the front of the queue. We had invested so much time that we chose to continue waiting, after 1 hr 15 mins the Manageress again came down and told us another 15 mins. We eventually got in after 1hr 45 mins wait. We were cold and our patience had been tested but we’re looking forward to the meal. The food was good but no better than any decent Fish and Chip restaurant. The view was amazing which was the one thing this place has going for it. The management really need to get a grip on the queuing/ booking system, telling people 30 mins then having to wait more than 3 times as long is just not on. This was our first and unfortunately our last visit, not worth the hype and basically a decent fish and chip restaurant with amazing views, that’s all.

Window table with amazing views. Food and wine to match . Fab ! Crab brioche lived up to expectations; delicious.

Not as good as it was years ago, not sure what oil is used now but chips were a disappointment. Had a vegetable oil taste to them which is not at all pleasant esp compared to proper beef dripping chips. Fish and batter was cooked through. Which many fish and chip shops cannot seem to manage, so that was good. Not sure would return in future though.

We were up locally collecting some wrought iron work from Katie Ventress, the creative blacksmith. Had seen this restaurant reviewed by Fred and Nadiya on TV, knew it got busy, but lucked out - last car park space and last table for 2 ! Initial impressions were very good - superb location, shop and deli downstairs, restaurant upstairs. Lift and stairs, which was good for my friend. Architecture of the place was stylish and modern. Welcomed in, all staff happy, service was perfectly paced for lunch. A few moments, drinks and order, water provided for the table. I was deffo having the crab brioche, my friend plumped for the pan fried plaice. It takes a while - be patient - made to order. Food was superb, absolutely excellent. Glad we managed to get in as they were queuing when we left. Lunch is wait for a table, evening is bookable. It works well.

We visited the seaview restaurant last night for a family meal and could not fault the service, lovely staff, tasty food and the atmosphere and view! Really stunning setting and incredible food. If you like fish you will not be disappointed. We loved the desserts too! All but one of us had 3 course meal. The prices are really good value. You'll see I voted for £50-£60 per person as we had mostly 3 courses each. Could not recommend this restaurant enough!I would also like to say thank you to the friendly staff. We took a photo of my grandmother who passed recently and we went out for a meal as our wake for her and they acknowledged it and said really lovely words and looked after my grandad. That was very special for us. Thank you!Parking: About 20 parking spaces which were quiet at 6pm at night when we visited.Wheelchair accessibility: There is disabled parking available and a lift big enough for a wheelchair to take you to the lovely restaurant.

When we arrived at the top of the funicular, we asked a couple of locals for the best fish and chips. Without hesitation, they both said here - not the cheapest, but the best. We had a large family group (19 including a baby) and we were seated on the terrace on several tables in a long line within minutes of turning up. It was not a warm day and it was out of school holidays - but it worked! The food was good - everybody enjoyed it - and it is in a great location, with lovely views over the beach. We couldn't fault it - I don't quite understand some of the poor reviews on here - perhaps they were at busier times. Our verdict: we agree with the locals!

Booked for dinner as we had seen Fred & Nadia on TV really rating the seafood brioche. Starters were fine & I enjoyed my main of stonebass with curried mussels, however, it did need a side of chips which I ordered. The side did not come, no one came to the table to ask if everything was OK so I did without as waiting on staff poorly trained - they keep their heads down & were solely focused on what they were doing at any one time so did not know what was going on around them & you could not catch their eye. My husband had their signature dish of crab filled brioche & he did not enjoy. The brioche was dry & there was hardly any filling in it - it certainly did not look like any of the photos in some reviews where the filling appears to be overflowing! My husband ate the brioche as short of getting up & making a fuss there was nothing else he could do as the waiting staff certainly weren't interested in checking if things were ok. We decided to order desert & coffee. The coffee came almost immediately. We finished our coffees still no desert after 25 minutes we were on the verge of leaving when the deserts arrived with no explanation as to what took so long. I don't know where all the good reviews come from for this restaurant as I found the experience very disappointing & I definitely would not recommend. A waste of hard earned money!

We visited today and although the kitchen was closed so they were on a limited menu they were still very accommodating. My husband had cod and chips, my son had childs scampi and chips and as I don’t like fish I asked if there was something else I could have (limited menu was just fish) and they did me an adult sausage. Very clean, including the toilets, and it was lovely to sit outside overlooking the beach and sea. Staff very friendly, made a fuss of our toddler and definitely earned their service change. Overall a lovely dinner in a beautiful setting.

We booked for an evening, so no waiting. The dressed crab starter was really good, and the hake was superb. My husband also enjoyed his haddock and chips. Friendly staff, and a lovely view outside

Lovely little restaurant right on the seafront with fabulous views of the beach. We were there for lunch so joined the queue about 11.20 for a 11.30am opening. Lovely clean restaurant upstairs with a beach theme and a fab round bench seat for the five of us looking out of the window. Starters of calamari, crab and oysters, all delicious. Main courses of fish pie (to die for), seafood linguini and good old fish and chips. The fish pie was a work of art and tasted as fabulous as it looked. This is our second visit but can’t wait to return for the next lunch. You can book a table in the evenings but not at lunch time so be willing to wait a little but it sure is worth it! If the queue is a bit too long then there’s always the Seaview fish and chip shop below.

Waited in the takeaway queue for 35 minutes, and still wasn’t at the counter. Only one member of staff serving - and the work rate was poor, and only one of three order points being used. When got close to the counter with still about 5 people in front of me it was announced they were waiting for chips. Surely the staff are aware of how many portions were being served, how many were being prepared and could judge this against the anticipated requirements. Needless to say, the crowd the Seaview had that was queuing well into the car park (a decent amount of business I assume) no longer existed. Potential customers gad simply gad enough. Simply down to extremely poor service.

Reviewed this place (takeaway only) 3 years ago and I was pretty scathing. The owner / manager gave a lengthy reply which did nothing to encourage me to return. However, 3 years have elapsed and the place has undergone some pretty serious renovation / refurbishment so, we tried again. The quality of the food has definitely not had the same makeover as the building. The fish - as I said in my previous review - is still poor quality compared to the product they were serving some years ago. It's grey, not the creamy, white and flaky cod I get back home in Sheffield. Top notch prices, seriously poor quality fare. The long queues outside may lead you assume that a value for money experience awaits. It doesn't. If the owner (Glenn?) would like me to name the two chippies we use in Sheffield he could ask the owners where they buy their fish from and follow suit. The blurb on the website about not compromising on quality is utter tosh. Don't let the fact that a couple of easily recognised BBC cooks got a decent meal there some time ago persuade you go too.

Have already reviewed this restaurant on Google maps, but I will give it another write up here. In my opinion it's the best chippy in the UK, no shadow of a doubt.
