Fantastic food, super service, perfect pricing!Genuinely faultless dining experience - amazing flavours and fine dining presentation made our table for 6 experience one to remember. There’s a magician or two in that kitchen. Real vegetarian options, new and varied meat and fish dishes and a decent bar all contributed to an excellent evening improved further by knowledgeable and attentive staff.Ignore the outside of the premises (which does it no favours) - the inside is classy, grown up, spacious and welcoming. Worth the 10 minute walk from the York city centre. If you think you tried them all this is a big step up from the usual. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back with others to spread the word!Vegetarian options: Imaginative and broad vegetarian options.

Excellent food and great service. Our waiter, Joshua was really rather lovely, attentive and took the time to give personal recommendations and explanations what we were eating and what would work well together.

Easily one of the best curries I’ve ever had! All three of us were raving about the delicious meal we had here well into the evening. Everything was perfect - from the starters to the rice to the breads to the curries themselves. The seafood platter, the Alleppey king prawn curry, the mutton Uluva Kootu curry and the Kerala lamb curry were each truly outstanding in their own right - I’d order each of these dishes again in a heartbeat. What’s more, the staff here are really lovely and attentive, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. We’re already planning our next visit! Thank you :)

Just had another authentic Indian meal here this evening & as usual it didn't disappoint ! Having been to India many times, I know authentic food & eating food here is like eating in India, service is great, even the dodgy restaurant door reminded me of India !Vegetarian options: I've been a vegetarian for over 45 years & the veggie selection is great

We first encountered the Coconut Lagoon when they catered for a friend’s party. The food was amazing - Not your typical Indian menu. We have been getting takeaways from there ever since. Last night was the first time we had eaten in the restaurant. We had an excellent and very knowledgeable waiter (Joshua) who advised us and made recommendations. The food was delicious and we will return. In the meantime we will continue to buy our takeaways from there. This is a very special place.

Great evening meal with family at the Coconut Lagoon - very handily situated just over the road from Union Terrace Car Park. A very varied menu, which our charming waiter, Joshua, guided us through. Great food, great service. Would highly recommend a visit.
Where to start. It’s probably best to look at the photos tbh. The ‘poppadoms and pickle tray’ was this abomination of a poppadom. Minus a pickle tray. The bhatooray (naan) was a laughable mess of half cooked whatever. The dried beef….well. Extra naan didn’t turn up. The food arrived half cold. This entire tray of food was £56. No doubt there will be a reply saying ‘we’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your food blah blah blah’ but sending this shambles out for £56 is a joke. Basically, go somewhere else.

We chose this restaurant out of the many whilst visiting York for its excellent reviews, 5 star hygiene rating, its presentation of the food, which was different to main stream Indian food and tasted delicious. Our young waiter, Joshua, is a credit to the business, he was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him.

Recommended by our guest house owner. This is a small restaurant on the outskirts of York. Very accommodating, attentive and friendly staff. Meal was excellent particularly the Lagoon Sadya. This amazing complete meal was a selection of curries and included a small rice pudding dessert. We would very much encourage people to try this out. Excellent value for money.

Before travelling to Sri Lanka we decided to visit Coconut Lagoon that specialises in southern Indian food. Amazingly hidden on a busy street in York, we found the friendliest waiter, Joshua, and tasted delicious and authentic food.
