OK mostly great points, room was big enough for a family of 4, the king size bed was a bit high (had short legs issues?) put up bed bit lumpy but was OK. Breakfast was OK with a wide range of choice, no hot chocolate on the coffee machine but staff bought a cup out with hot chocolate in on last morning, bacon was undercooked and cold. Now for bad point................... Need a bath mat in the bath, husband went for a soak in the bath and ended up slipping which has resulted in a fractured rib. All in all a great long weekend, Park and Ride only 5 minutes down the road, chippy and Chinese next door.

There was a very long queue to check in, the machine was not working and just one receptionist. The room we were eventually allocated was well below Premier Inn standards and really needed a refurbishment. It had not much in the way of facilities - just a bed, a uncomfortable looking chair, a desk chair and a very small desk space. The view was of the wall next door. We waited in the very long queue and managed to be moved to refurbished room which was so much better quality and what we would expect from Premier Inn. After that all was fine and we had a very good stay. Good amount of car parking and easy to access the Park and Ride.

The hotel is nice, it’s very close to York which is great. However a bad experience with the bill at the hotel and another bad experience in the restaurant have completely put us off. We stay in Premier Inns around the country and have never had the problems we had here. Nothing was in the customers best interest. We just wanted a few days away to de stress, not to add to it. Better staff training is needed.

after many years of using and staying all over the uk and staying in Premier Inn accomodations , I was very shocked to come across a stay that was not great .. firstly checked in and no blankets over the bed and then shower extractor didnt work so we had to open the window to allow the steam out of our room on a cold day ... when we eventually went to get something to eat the table we were led and sat at had glasses left on it and the table was filthy and the cutlery was dirty and i had to go to the counter and try and find clean sets to use .. some of our food was cold .. very angry.. slept and stayed only to wake up to the breakfast that we had pre booked to find the tables dirty again and the cuttlery still dirty after my comments the night before .. i am very disappointed and saddend to say wont be staying at this location again .. shame

I booked this hotel as having used other Premier Inn's, always found them comfortable, convenient and good value for money. This one was convenient for our day trip into York (using the train) then moving further north for a holiday. At the time of booking (2 months in advance), I phoned the hotel regarding connecting rooms (necessary as have a son with medical needs). Was told all fine by a guy on reception. Had I been told at the time of booking that there were no guarantees, then I would not have booked the hotel. A catalogue of errors then began - emails and phone calls and I should have followed my instinct and cancelled! I was promised a phone call by 1pm on the arrival day if connecting rooms were not available as then had the chance to book elsewhere without penalty. No call came, so feeling worn out having had a full day out, arriving at 9pm on a Sunday night and being told that connecting rooms were not available was infuriating! There was no unplanned maintenance, the hotel just did not read the booking notes and reallocated the rooms to other guests. The receptionist told us that all connecting rooms were already occupied so she couldn't do anything. I had even been given the room numbers the week before and told by a really helpful guy at the hotel to ask the receptionist to unlock the inter connecting door. A terrible night's sleep - a combination of room hopping to look after my son (17 years old with complex additional needs) and the awful room fan going on and off all night, then a dirty bathrooms and blocked sink. I duly lodged this complaint with Guest Relations (as advised by the hotel) and they have been nothing but unhelpful. I would have no issues or need to leave a bad review if the hotel had simply done as they promised - either allocate connecting rooms, or if not available, let us know so that we had options. We were left with no choice. My reason for needing connecting rooms was specifically related to my child's needs, not just me being a picky traveler. Definitely put me off using Premier Inn's - the attitude of guest relations is terrible - they said they would speak to hotel staff about training, but the hotel staff were all friendly enough (despite not doing what they said they would), but I think the training needs to happen starting with the Guest Relations Team. Good Night Sleep Guarantee? Don't bother, it isn't worth the paper it's written on ...

On arriving, the receptionist made us feel very welcome and helped us with our city planning. He directed us to our room and it was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of towels and extra pillows. The only thing I would change was the heat of the food at breakfast. I enjoy a hot plate and hot food and unfortunately neither was available. The quantity of the food on offer and the choice was incredible however. The service from the staff was very good and they were incredibly friendly and helpful.

As a family with two kids we use Premier Inns a LOT. Practically every month we stay somewhere across the UK. This PI is lovely and works really well for going into York. We have stayed here before as there is plenty of free parking available, a Beefeater Restaurant and other places to eat nearby including a Chinese restaurant (next door) and a McDonald's and M&S Food 2 mins drive away. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with the 'older style' furniture (which personally I prefer as you get more shelving and storage). The only negative is there is no air con and with a family of 4 in one room it does get quite hot at night. Everything else works really well though and we'd stay again. We stayed for 4 nights and did various activities including the National Railway Museum, Castle Museum and a trail around York of spotting cats on buildings (which was free and we downloaded the map - 22 cats to spot in total and our kids really enjoyed doing this over a couple of days). The drive into York from this hotel takes about 15 minutes and there is plenty of parking on the edge of the city. We also got a taxi into York one of the days which cost us £11.80 one way and it was on a bank holiday. The Park and Ride into York works great with the buses running every 15 minutes. £3.60 return per person and kids under 13 go free. ?

Room thermostat not working. Room boiling hot. Pull out bed uncomfortable for my daughter, can feel the bar through the mattress. Sink in bathroom didn't drain well. Hair in bathtub plug. Shower rail broken at one side. Breakfast was luke warm. Sausages were tasty. Good choice of teas. Eggs and hash browns rubbery, left out too long. Toilet in restaurant, in morning, no toilet paper in men's toilet. We had dinner in evening, steak was a bit tough, but my son enjoyed the meat grill very much. Staff were very friendl. I've stayed in lots of premier inns, but this is not one of the best I'm afraid. Disappointed.

Great hotel just outside of York, customer service was excellent throughout the weekend with friendly and helpful staff in the hotel and Beefeater. We stayed in a family room which was clean and spacious, plenty of extra tea, coffee, milk etc available at reception. 5 minutes to the Park & Ride so super easy to get into town without having to pay crazy parking prices and very regular bus to and from. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in York

Quick, cheap and good quality sandwiches. Very fast service. A staple for the local business community.
