This was our fourth visit to Meltons, my favourite restaurant in York. Brilliant cooking and the dishes are so light and delicious that even with the extra treats provided I didn’t feel too full at the end of the meal. I am intolerant to gluten, and the restaurant caters so well for this. Most of the dishes can be adapted so I never feel I’m missing out. Friendly, unpretentious with amazing food and wines.

Love this restaurant. We ate with friends last night and chose the 3 course menu which was outstanding and probably the best dinner out we’ve had this year. The service was also excellent and the atmosphere was buzzing with pre Christmas merriment. Well done Meltons, we will be back in 2024!

What a fantastic restaurant this is. If you are looking for a fine dining experience Meltons ticks every box in my opinion. Food was exceptionally presented, a little bit surprising in parts and most importantly tasted great. Service was top class, (shout out Harvey who was great) well informed, non intrusive and helping aid a relaxed down to earth atmosphere. We had the 3 course menu which also included 2 additional Amuse bouche and Bread courses. Whilst it is expensive compared to most restaurants, compared to a bunch of starred places I have eaten Meltons stacks up as good value. Will 100% be back for the full taster menu in the future. Thankyou Meltons for a great lunch!

Been here 4 times now over 18 months making a deliberate break on my way to and from Scotland. Not food just to eat but to appreciate. Some excellent wines (some expensive - over £100). Tasting menu is a delight. Each course has great flavours and textures. You do not eat it - you savour every morsel. Fine Dining

What a find! A small, but intimate restaurant with amazing tasting menu. Worth the trip from the Fylde Coast. The staff were friendly and attentive as well as knowledgeable without being over fussy. The food was out of this world and portions were sizeable. Great place, shame it’s so far away from where we live

Possibly the best meal I have ever had. From the amuses bouches to the apple crumble souffle, the food was exceptional - an inspired blend of flavours. The staff were all well informed and friendly, and the whole experience was a delight.

We hadn’t heard of Meltons before but found them on Tripadvisor and are glad we did. Our dinner was most enjoyable with excellent presentation, delicious canapés to start and we both chose the same dishes on the menu - starter of Scallop, main Lamb, dessert Soufflé. Good wine and lovely staff. Unfortunately we are not local but on our next visit to York we would like to go back to this restaurant.
