New review as things change. Great beer, friendly staff and whilst busy on a weekend so not ideal for solo visits during the week it is ideal.

Very quaint little pub hidden out of the way, but definitely worth finding. Lovely traditional atmosphere and very helpful staff.

Follow the sign on the corner of Micklegate & St Martin’s Lane to find this classic old pub serving cask ale from some of Yorkshire’s lesser known breweries. A true gem and quite rightly in the Good Beer Guide.

Called in here a few times previously for drinks, it’s one of my faves in York.Ate Sunday lunch today for the 1st time. Highly recommended. Better than most restaurants I’ve eaten at. Could tell a lot of care had gone into the prep & cooking. Shared a chorizo platter to start then I had beef & my girlfriend chicken. Will definitely be back. Recommend booking as its popular. Dog friendly, made friends with a resident bulldog.
