Had a takeaway with friends last night and never used The Mulan before . It was the best takeaway I have had from a Chinese in a very long time. We had pretty much every starter and they were all amazing. The beef in the mains was perfect (I know it's not always great from Chinese takeaways but this was). Large order was all correct and all hot . Couldn't fault it at all. My new go to Chinese

I've been to this Chinese restaurant a couple of times, the last time prior to this review was in 1994! So it's been here a fair few years now. It wouldn't be here for that long if it wasn't any good. It was a Friday night my most recent visit, it was busy. Price I thought was a bit expensive for a Chinese restaurant but the portions were very large, the dish I ate there was Chinese chicken curry, which was good.Service was efficient and quick. If this Chinese restaurant was local to where I live i would visit more often, but I live 250 miles away so visits will be few and far between in the future.

We visited for the first time today (Sunday 17th Sept) whilst in the area on holiday. We've been coming to York for years and only just found this hidden gem.The service was fabulous. Very attentive and on hand should you need anything.The food was so fresh and delicious. I had the spring rolls, followed by prawn fried rice and some curry sauce. My dad had salt and pepper squid and that too was delicious followed by sweet and sour chicken and Rice mum had the different menu to us. Soup, and 3 varieties of starters followed by a chicken and mushroom dish with rice.It was such big portions we had to take it home with us as we couldn't manage it all.We will be back again next year when in the area. Thank you for a lovely experience, delicious food and fabulous service.Parking: Input your registration plate into the ipad screen when you enter the restaurant.

I always liked The Mulan however they have got extremely expensive. We get the Absolutely deluxe and at £26.50 per head I'll definitely be sticking to another place that's exactly the same however is £8.70 per head cheaper. Such a shame you have increased your prices so much.

The Mulan's food is excellent. Sharing starters were all great. Sizzling steak was top notch and plentiful.

My husband and I decided on a set meal (think it was the Deluxe one), it was absolutely delicious and so much food we took the rest away. We were going to add on soup but glad we didn’t. It’s such good value for the amount and quality of food. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. There is a two course meal at lunchtimes which looks incredible value, so we will try this. Can highly recommend and it was the best prawn toast I’ve ever had.

Our family of 7 went to the Mulan for my birthday treat. The food and service was excellent. Prawn toast and spring rolls were the stars of the starters. Salt n Pepper chicken, and Crispy Chicken in OK sauce were the main course stars. Tom and Denise provided excellent service.
We have used this restaurant for almost 30 years it was and still is the best Chinese restaurant in York We had the Sunday special lunch and it was delicious again. Thank you

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years now and I always find the food to be good value and enjoyable. The atmosphere has never been anything special and the staff have always just been there to serve you and that's about it. We went for lunch and quite frankly this will be my last visit. The plates were not clean! The starters we had of spring rolls were cold and tasteless. The mains weren't too bad but considering 4 of us picked egg fried rice we got 1 scoop each by the waitress and no more. There's a male member of staff that works there that has no customer service skills at all. He rushes you to make an order and then tries to stare at you to get you to leave. He's rude and he gives you the impression that you aren't welcome and too many people are going to experience this and not turn up again.
