We came at the recommendation of our receptionist at our hotel. Food was beautifully cooked with my chicken being very tender. Drinks and food were reasonably priced for centre of york and service and staff were brilliant!

Visited here as I love my curry and have eaten many over the years. The curry was average and flavourless. The lamb dish was just spiced up with curry powder. For me over rated

Picked up a take away from the Raj Poor flavours, texture. Chicken tikka masala, pillar box red ,flavour nondescript and chicken texture odd. Onion bhaji not crisp and oily. Other curries lacked flavour. Biryani chicken, looked like the cooked chicken was just diced and added at the end and not cooked with the rice. Overall ,all dishes , very poor.

Lovely Christmas Day lunch, the service was friendly and the food was delicious . We even had enough to take home . Thank you for a lovely Christmas afternoon curry

Amazing food, great value for money. Excellent menu and the service is fantastic - if you’re in York and wanting Indian food, you have to go here.

Great food, excellent service, friendly atmosphere, a really good choice for Christmas Day. We've been to a few Indian restaurants on Xmas Day but we all agreed this was the best. Pretty busy, which added to the atmosphere, but the service was impeccable. Will definitely return.

A fantastic Christmas day lunch at thr Raj. Super service, great food and value. Starters (mixed kebab and onion bhaji) the best we have had in a long long time with lovely crisp bhajis. Friendly staff who were good for a bit of Yuletide banter. Highly recommended.

After a long cold wandering around the Christmas Market went to this lovely restaurant. The food was the amazing, nicest we have had in a long time. The portions were quite big and the naan was to die for. Pity they don't deliver to Birmingham

Honestly the best Indian takeaway in York! An amazing variety of foods, staff extremely friendly and helpful!

Came across this restaurant by accident and I’m so glad. The food is stunning and great service. We will 100% be going back before we go home.

We ordered a take away and very disappointed.Papadums and onion Bhaji was ok. The two bhunas we ordered were tasteless. After I poured off the oil slick on the top, there wasn’t any sauce at all. It was more like a tasteless stir fry. The chicken texture was like it has been stewed. We will be going elsewhere in future.

Ordered through just eat, ordered with you guys multiple times and had nothing wrong with anything I normally actually enjoy it, but tonight me and my partner both ordered a chicken tikka masala and a naan bread aswell as some rice, we have had to leave it and order from elsewhere as the tikka was overpowered by salt it’s literally all you can taste, the rice and naan were both cold also, delivery was great came within half an hour but the food was so poor £30 down the drain won’t be ordering again!

Pre-booked a table yet when we arrived, they kept us waiting around 15 minutes to show us to our table despite there being plenty of free tables. Whilst we were waiting, one guy seemed to be taking ages with a take-away order and the other seemed to be walking around, looking lost with no care to ask if he could help us. We were then waiting for 20 minutes until our drinks order was taken and even then we had to ask a waiter to take our order. This was not the end of the waiting, we then waited around an hour and a half to receive our food. We asked on several occasions where it was, only to be told it was coming and that they were very busy due to having a lot of take-away orders. They seemed to be more concerned with the take-away side of the business than the restaurant. To no surprise people were coming and leaving without being served. We almost did the same but due to my Dad's severe health conditions we couldn't easily go off and find somewhere else. What also ruined the evening was a table full of rowdy and very loud men sat opposite us who had no respect for any other diners. Foul language was constantly coming out of their mouths. This was by far the worst experience we had throughout our entire holiday and my parents also said that the wine was below par and the worst of the trip. Such as shame as everywhere else we went to eat was lovely and the service and wine was second to none. The only reason I have given a 2 star review rather than a 1 was due to the food being acceptable and the only highlight of the night. I highly suggest you ditch one side of the business as you clearly cannot run both and you don't seem to care that your restaurant diners are left in the lurch. Remember they are the ones bringing more profit to your buisness and have made the effort to come out and be wined and dined to a high level especially in these difficult times.

Did not enjoy the food here one bit. The pickle tray had jar sauce style yoghurt and mint. ( no excuse for that ) My curry was not piping hot when served. I suspect the chicken Tikka in my dish was the sliced sandwich filling variety from a supermarket, thrown into the sauce. Rice overcooked and the worse slimey tasteless Bhindi Bharji I ever had. My stomach felt off the following day. Tourist trap, avoid.
