Stayed here on a Sunday night, also had dinner in their restaurant that evening. From moment we arrived the staff were amazing, they went out of the their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Food was excellent, we'd chowder and King prawns, just fantastic. Breakfast following morning was freshly cooked and again staff amazing. Music in bar Sunday night great too. Will definitely be back.

Food is great! Bar staff and reception staff are very friendly and helpful but the thing that let's this hotel down is the noise. I understand some noise can't be helped, from outside ect but when they have their cleaning staff start at 9am and when they are shouting to each other and laughing and joking right outside your door then it's an issue. This went on for an hour, not exactly relaxing. The sound proofing in this hotel is TERRIBLE. The music from the nightclub rattled through the hotel until around 1.30am and we were on the 2nd floor. I love a party as much as the next person so have no issues with people having a good time but they should have soundproofed the hotel better as its SHOCKING. It's a shame as the hotel has potential.

My partner and I had our dog so asked where to sit, we were out the front with the smokers coming and going from inside at the table beside. We were advised there was a heater, this was a push button for i'd say 2mins of an electric heater above us. It was cold and wet today, the cover is a canopy which dripped, the ground was angled down to where you could sit out of the rain and was flooded in places, our dog was wetter leaving that arriving as he had to lie on a very wet paved area. The music was very load, to the point that conversation was impossible, we asked 3 different members of staff if it could be turned down which we were told wasn't a problem but didn't happen. We were sitting facing the street to eat with everyone passing by checking what we were eating. The drinks lorry arrived and 2 deliverymen trundled barrels past us and clunked crates, then one nicely spat on the ground. The barman/manager was very off hand when I said food was nice but seating not good, he preferred to chat to 2 very young ladies with their dog beside us.

We were surprised! I was expecting a nice stay just like you would in accomondation above the bar and yet it was far more than that! Everything was perfect from the moment we booked till we departured, may I add that includes the price! Staff was welcoming, especially Mo, beds were so comfy that we didn't want to get up! Once we did there was scrupmtipus breakfast freshly cooked for us by Caren. Products were so fresh and cooked to perfection that we'll be travelling back just to taste other things on menu. We had a fantastic stay and we will be visiting again!

Been drinking in Anchor about 40 years. Walked in today about 4pm. Sat up at bar waiting to order. Barman made eye contact but then proceeded to serve two sets of customers who came up to bar after us. Used to be best bar in Portstewart but sadly its reputation is badly dented. Poor service. Sad!)

Seen a bald head bouncer headbutt a young fella while he was being held by two others, very disturbing

The Anchor is an excellent bar/restaurant, as a regular I would highly recommend it. I suspect the bad review given below was the guy who was thrown out last Thursday for swearing at the bar staff and then threatened to write a bad review. The seafood chowder is excellent, as is the peppered chicken with a side of champ! And the staff will go out of their way to ensure you have a great night. Plus most nights they have live music on. I've been going there since 1995, it's an institution in Portstewart!

There are so many good options for food in Portstewart and nearby. And then there's the Anchor. Terrible customer service and pretty poor food. Avoid.
