Thanks to David and the amazing chef's. Blown away by the food. This place goes under the radar a little. Food was outstanding. Was good value for the tasting menu. Will definitely be back again?

I visited this Restaurant today with my Mother who is in a wheelchair. I had checked beforehand and saw that it was accessible for a disabled person. Unfortunately although there was access, the toilet was up a flight of stairs. My Mother managed this with great difficulty but it would have been impossible for someone permanently using a wheelchair. Perhaps the website should mention this? I asked for a Bloody Mary, and was told by our lovely waitress Agnes that they didn’t serve this quite normal cocktail. The menu was quite limited and not the same one as shown on the website. We decided not to eat at The Boathouse. The staff were quite apologetic and said they were hoping to make changes to the Restaurant to accommodate all guests. As we didn’t eat anything I can only comment on the accessibility and drinks menu!

Small old rowing boat dwelling. Very romantic and great dining experience now owned by the Salty Dog I believe.

Tl;dr this chef and this team are on their way to a Michelin star, so get a reservation while you can. We visited here Saturday 29, where we enjoyed the tasting menu by current chef John Hollywood. Their tasting menu is averagely priced, comparable to Dublin’s Bastible, with 6 courses actual, and plenty of wine.Aside from the setup, nothing else is average. The staff at Boat House are second to none. The atmosphere is similar to Hof van Cleve, with chirpy, witty staff happily serving customers and following the mood of the table. Their sommelier and wine pairing is particularly special, with each bottle subverting the trend, unexpected, but without compromising on quality (see: Bastible cannot figure out wine). Their sommelier is a wine nerd who’s happy to go into as much depth as you want, but you feed off the passion between courses, which is a really great dynamic between the staff and the table - this is rare, usually only achieved at top star restaurants. I’ve never found this in the island of Ireland. The food itself is the perfect mix of foraged from land and sea, each dish testing and surprising you, but with some classics mixed in (beef + Barolo your reward for trusting the chef). On the whole, the menu seems designed to subvert & comfort you in equal measure, and succeeds with every course. You won’t find the same level of experimentation from many of the Italian tasting menus on the circuit, but that comes with the assurances of consistent quality and a journey that’ll never let you down, where subversive wine pairings inject a level of exciting chaos without risking the food.Between the atmosphere, staff, and chemistry at the table & in the kitchen, a trip to Boat House can be held in the same regard as some of the world’s top Michelin star restaurants. They’re on the way. They have the ingredients, whether you know it or not. Better start those birthday reservations now.

We visited the Boathouse for a special birthday meal, the service was exceptional and all of the courses on the Taster menu were fabulous. We were so impressed by the flavours, presentation and attention to detail. The wine pairing was a great experience and we gained so much from David sharing his knowledge on all the wines, grapes and vineyards. Overall we had a fantastic evening in the Boathouse and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Boathouse.

All staff were excellent - pleasant helpful and considerate. Great views over the river and Lough. Menu not extensive but in these days value for money.

Our family group experienced the taster menu on Saturday with the wine flight. It certainly was wow! An explosion of flavours in your mouth. All courses were perfectly presented and tasted amazing. The selected wines really complemented the food and I loved the Californian Viognier. Our waiters were knowledgeable and friendly and the whole experience was awesome. Nearly 5 hours of food and wine heaven! The restaurant catered for my burger eating son too! The building is full of character. Highly recommend.
