This restaurant was very good ? until twice in a row they got the orders wrong and we had to wait ages until the proper food finally arrived and now because they got 2 orders wrong they won't deliver and are not very nice to speak to on the phone ... very unprofessional and I would never recommend to anyone again !!!

This is THE best Indian Restaurant in Belfast - our favourite - we love it ! The food is amazing, so flavoursome and tasty, and the staff are excellent and very friendly. We always recommend here to friends.

Visiting from Sydney and this restaurant was recommended by friends - an inspired choice, just what we needed. The pappadums and incredible dips were just the start - onion bhajis, chicken pakora entrees were delicious and the chicken korma, chicken vindaloo and lamb saag were all mouth watering. The staff were just lovely and even ordered our cab when it was time to leave. Looking forward to future visits.

Laxman was an amazing host . Attentive and polite and represented the restaurant perfectly. The currys were of a high standard and delivered with a friendly smile. Namaste

Disappointed with this restaurant. Had to order a starter afternoon my main meal as the portion was tiny. Full of peppers and sauce. Looked at the menu before I went over and thought for £20 it should be a decent size. No!Taste was descent however I expected more than just sauce. Also, hovering with the card machine when I had just finished is not very comforting.

We ordered and then decided to take away. The food was ok, the service was ok, the place was ok… but nothing took it to the next level.

Visited on Friday night Friendly servers ! Ordered the lamb curry and butter chicken ! Protein servings were as expected , white rice was a bit small ! Not overly spicy ! Would probably go back !

Visiting Belfast for a few days and staying locally we visited India Gate on a Saturday night, with my wife and daughter (11yo). We ordered starters and main courses and the food was excellent, with a large menus choice. Service was very attentive even though the restaurant was very busy. Would recommend for a good curry in Belfast.

I visited India Gate restaurant with my wife a couple of weeks ago while on vacation. We received good service the first day, so the next day we returned for dinner. Unfortunately, the staff were very rude and started to make fun of us by laughing among themselves as we ordered only starters and not the main course, but we ordered food for more than 30 pounds according to their instructions. On request, the staff refused to serve tap water, saying it was not drinkable. This was a bad experience for us during our trip to Ireland.

I have rated this restaurant before and even though I have only been twice, it’s still my best Indian in Belfast. As I write this, I’m sat in a bar and heading over there for dinner shortly.I work in Belfast occasionally visiting from Hampshire in England and I eat a lot of Indian food when travelling. This restaurant can’t be faulted for the food. It is excellent and will always be my Indian of choice in Belfast. It’s not the most central, but in my opinion it is the best.

We visited the restaurant while our stay in Belfast. A nice big restaurant that can have better decor. The food was good but not the best compared to others in the area . Service was slow as well. When we were taken to be seated the people in the table next to us had their bags all over our seat and had to be asked to be moved. That should have been done at the beginning. They should not have their dirty bags in our seat. Then when we finally sat down the one person in the table next to us had her shoes off and was sitting with one foot crossed legged towards us . That threw out appetite. We did not want to make a scene of that so are quickly and left . This should be monitored by the staff and fixed. Overall a restaurant with good potential but not there yet. The platter had huge pieces of chicken . Smaller pieces will Make it appetizing . The taste was good . Good options on the menu.

We chose India Gate for our first dinner in Belfast based on reviews and proximity to our hotel. We were not disappointed. It is a large restaurant in an inviting space. We began by sharing a mixed vegetable starter (£ 5.5) which was very good. I thought my chicken Buhna (£ 17.95, including jasmine rice, pilau rice or naan) was excellent—moderately spicy and wonderfully prepared. My partner found his chicken tikka masala (£ 18.95) to be surprisingly sweet (but our waiter had warned of the sweetness) but it was still good. Since we ordered rice with our entrees, an order for tasty naan was £ 3.25. Service was excellent; I especially appreciated our waiter’s ability to explain the differences among the items on the extensive menu. The only annoyance: the prices on the restaurant’s online menu are seriously out of date (£ 4+ less) which is inexcusable. We’re into return to Belfast, I’d welcome a return visit to this solid restaurant choice.

I recently visited India Gate with some friends and really enjoyed it. One who is from India said this restaurant is the most similar choice in Belfast to food he has eaten back home ? I had Samosas for starters and tried Manchuriam, both were delicious and came out piping hot. For mains, we had chicken korma and chicken tikka masala with rice and naan bread - they were absolutely lovely and not spicy at all which was what I wanted. There are 4 spice levels to choose from however and lots of choices in each category. The menu had a description of every dish which I found helpful. For dessert, I had ice cream which was lovely and tasted nutty. Overall the restaurant had friendly staff, well spaced tables and calming Indian music playing. We stuck to water, but India Gate had an extensive wine/drinks menu. I would definitely come back ?
