Excellent food at reasonable prices. Fast food, fast service. Ordered delivery was with us at time stated. Recommend a visit

my family and I have been going to the hip chip for years and recently the food has been horrible. We aren’t very impressed as we always look forward to getting a chippy with yourselves. We have never normally had a problem with the food but recently it’s been awful!?

Missing chip from order. Cod supper fish or black greasy batter not fully cooked. Thick glarry batter the shape of fish with little fish content. Nothing crispy about it. Gave the cod supper back to the very nice driver as well as the chip he delivered short from my order to return to the chippy owner who cooked the cod supper. Owner said there was nothing wrong with the cod supper (see photos) he cooked. Refused to refund. Had good suppers previously (might depend whos cooking them, could be hit or miss) No gimmicks like "Award winning fish suppers" used back in the day to sell them. All word of mouth and customers were respected for their custom. If owner had been reasonable I may not have wrote this review.

Not much to say really, food was cold, and we only walked 2mins to get to where we were eating it so I was a little confused about that. We stayed the entire time after ordering as well so it's not like we saw our food sitting for ages before it was handed to us.Service was as what to be expected from a counter service chippy, I like that though, take the order and move on ??

For a small town there was plenty of choice in terms of take sways. All however had mediocre reviews on TA We chose the hip as it had the biggest queue The fish and chips were just about ok . The place was clean and staff friendly bit on the pricey side too for what you get

Tried to do an online order. Soon as I started I realised it was set up for collection and not delivery. I phoned them immediately to correct the order and the delivery time but they said they had started to cook rhe fish and it would be ready right away. Then they said that delivery would take about half an hour. As a result our fish and chips were delivered and both the fish and the chips were really soggy. Would not recommend as food not great and no flexibility with cooking or delivery time.

International travellers and so ordered chicken and Hawaiian burgers , Hawaiian burger dry and hard,chicken burger was also dryBoth tasteless. Told order ready so Asked if Hawaiian burger had specific item and it was opened and slapped into the bag with attitude.Burgers are overpriced and staff couldn't care less about why they are supposed to be there.They need to learn how these items should be cooked and prepared.Plenty of other great takeaway shops close by as we found out.It's good food fast,Not Fast food !

We are international travellers who have returned to Bushmills a second time because we love it so much. Unfortunately, our experience at The Hip Chip tonight has left us unimpressed. The poor experience started with the ordering process. The little redhead with the massive eyelashes clearly loves her job… NOT!!! She was so rude and she had a sour look on her face the whole time we were there. We ordered burgers and she asked what I wanted on it without giving any options. When I asked for clarification, she just repeated “what do you want on it?” I requested lettuce. When my husband ordered his burger, he wasn’t even asked. When I saw they had constructed his burger with only the mince pattie I asked for salad to be added. The other eyelashed girl asked why we hadn’t asked for salad. I explained that we hadn’t been offered it. She added lettuce, tomato and onion. My burger and chips were put in the box and we waited at least 5 minutes before my husband’s burger and chips were packed. This meant that by the time I got my burger and chips, they were luke warm.

I have been getting out of this chippy for years when visiting Bushmills or Portballintrae. Never disappoints. Even when the place is packed too the door with people.

Absolute disgrace of a hole. Never get an order right and 90% of the time cold. Delivery driver one of the most ignorant people to work with the public (barring the owner). When you ring to tell them about wrong/missing orders the owner gives you a mouthful of cheek then shouts “you’re barred” and hangs up on you. Concentrate more on the food the customers are paying for and less on trying to make yourself look like some sort of local “celeb”. Disgusted wouldn’t be the word! And for the record I NEVER leave bad reviews for anywhere, normally either leave good reviews or not at all.
nearly 2 hours for a food delivery and there was a missing item, it was slightly warm when i got it delivery driver swore at me. The business owner was rude on the phone then told me to take my business elsewhere.

Got fish and chips. Fish mostly batter and very dry. Peas tasteless. Chicken burger not cooked in middle. Chips fine. For what I paid not very enjoyable.

Fish dry batter so hard .. chips bland .. didn’t taste like freshly cooked.. staff so abrupt ,, wouldn’t return.. try chip shop across road next time
