I really enjoyed my meal with my friends at this restaurant. The service was slow, especially towards the end and they forgot my friend’s veg she asked for. However, the staff were really lovely. We got free soup on the house and we asked for olives and they gave us a lot of olives. The wine, my fish and chips, the soup and my brownie were all lovely.

Arrived in the ground floor bar.Served two warm beers and the excuse when asked "we were flat out all day" poor.We checked 15 mins before aour booking and seated immediately. Despite being given the menu almost right away the staff refused when asked to take our order. 30 minutes and 15 minutes after our original booking time out order was take.30 mins later our food (single course) was served. Poor . Booking was 6.30 as we were off to a show for 8pm so keen to get going. 7.13pm almost an hour after we arrived we were presented with our food . Poor . see pics. Almost £40 for surf & turf. 4x chips in the smallest pot I have served beed served. Poor. The surf was £8 add on. Poor. The steak portion was good and cooked to perfection. ✓. Service was awfull . Junior staff were not well enough trained to take food orders and the kitchen was obviously flat out.No for me I'm afraid I expect better service than that.

went there to celebrate our 50th anniversary as well as my wifes birthday the next day. Great food, great staff. THey was especially instrumental in helping me buy a glass of prosecco for each diner there in order to toast my wife. Thank you to the staff for the help. We had sea bass and monkfish both of which were cooked perfectly. My wife doesn't consume alcohol and their bartender made up a nice 'mocktail' for her to enjoy!!! Can't recommen this place enough

We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant last night, it was my dad’s 80th birthday, we were a group of 20 people. The service was exceptional, the food was amazing, I would definitely recommend and definitely go again. Excellent value for money

Make reservations, this is a very busy place to eat. Service was professional, wine list offered a good variety, food was prepared perfect to order and was delicious.

Unfortunately it wasn't the experience we'd had before. The front of house lady is lovely but the rest of the staff need further training. Four of us ordered burgers which took ages to come and our friend waited a further 10 minutes for her meal. The burgers were very dry and tasteless and when we told the waiter he said it wasn't his problem. The front of house did apologise and take some money off but it was too little too late

Though generally very good, there were a few niggles. The steak was good but overcooked; asking for medium rare I’d expect some signs of blood, but really it was medium. The serving of chips with it was a bit mean too. The pork roulade was excellent though. One of the starters, the sesame feta salad, divided this couple. I really didn’t like it but it does what it ‘says on the tin’! Service was fine throughout despite having to cope with a sizeable birthday group, and we had some lovely accompanying cocktails, wine, and whiskey to round off a good meal.

My sister and I ate here at 5pm when the restaurant opened after a matinee perdant the Millennium Forum which is 5 minutes walk away. Food tasty. There is a pre theatre menu. We both had seafood fritters to start with which were delicious and then pork for main course. Nice surroundings and good service. Quite expensive for an early evening meal.

The food here is unbelievable. From the a la carte in the main restaurant right through to the menu in the bar downstairs. I’ve eaten here on numerous occasions and worked my way through most of the menu and I am yet to find a dish that wasn’t full of flavour or presented right. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The setting is brilliant and if you can get a window seat in the restaurant the view down shipquay street is brilliant. Definitely worth calling in for food

Excellent food and way of cooking!!! Ideal to rest between walking tours and to take energy. Accompany your meal with a cider.

Extremely disappointing.on so many levels! Food was lukewarm, front-of-house guy and manageress were dour and unwelcoming and finally we were allocated a table in a space less than a telephone box behind a large pillar, which isolate us from all the other diners. Did we offend them when we booked the table the previous week?

We’ve been in the UK and Ireland since July 4, and this (July 18) was the best meal we’ve had in all of Scotland, England, and Ireland. Brilliant service, tasty and thoughtful dishes, and a lovely space made this a meal to remember.

I don't know why, we didn't expect to dine so well in Derry. The Shipquay was outstanding. We loved the service, a team of friendly young people eager to please. Food was excellent, very fresh and beautifully prepared. We finished our dinner with a local cheese plate that was quite generous and really good accompanied with some sort of sweet "honey" that turned out to be an incredibly delicious beer jam.

We found Shipquay Restaurant after discovering many of the pubs did not serve food after 6pm on a Friday night which was surprising. The Shipquay was a pleasant surprise with excellent service, delicious food and a lovely setting. We would definitely return.
