We were here last night and the food was absolutely perfect. Clean plates all around. The service was second to none. All of the servers were really friendly and were spot on with their attentiveness.. Not hovering over you or forgetting about you. Myself and my parents can’t wait to get back again
This is the second time I have eaten here and it hasn’t improved. The food seems to be all pre-cooked. It comes out barely warm. I gave it a second chance but definitely won’t be back again.
Great food & brilliant venue for a Birthday party, Ricky was a great host and pulled out all the stops to make it a great night. Nothing was any bother for Ricky. 10/10
Really busy place, with great food and excellent service.
I had a meal at this restaurant during Halloween and the food was awesome! Really tasty dishes and cool Halloween vibes. But just a heads up, it was super busy and the staff seemed overloaded. It took ages to get our bill sorted. Still, a great spot for a festive bite!"
1st time eating at gate bistro - 4/12/23. Service was excellent from both waiter/waitress. Unsure of their names. We both had chicken wings for starters and salt chilli chicken for mains. The starter was a good portion size. Food was quick and hot. Delicious ? would come and eat again
Totally shocking attitude from some staff members. Order came wrong and by the time the correct side order had came the main course was cold and the sauce was also cold. Was asked to be heated and was told by one of the workers she would be right back to collect it, which didn't happen. Ordered a fishbowl cocktail which arrived and was then advised we would have 15 mins to finish and have to leave as party was coming in. Explained there was no way we would be able to finish it in 15 mins. Was out for a birthday and it was just completely disappointing which ended in us just going home as we both were just so disappointed with the service and wanted to stay in the restaurant for a few cocktails after finishing our meal. Said when we booked we would have to leave table by 8, but when we phoned the restaurant they said no that's just what the website says and to ignore there would be no time restrictions.
Hands down the best wings in derry. I am a big wing fan, and these are undoubtedly the best wings I've eaten in any restaurant in northern Ireland. The noodles were a huge let down with my teriyaki chicken though. I was expecting egg noodles and they're more like the extremely thin Singapore noodles, with out much flavour. The menu should have stated they were Vermicelli. But the wings were phenomenal.
Very good place, and friendly pricesGood value ?
Really enjoyed my food I had the bbq brisket sandwich however staff very grumpy and didn’t seem to care about customer service skills , gutting as we came all the way from coleraine, could be a great spot if staff learned manners.
Restaurantji Recommends
My husband and I ended up here after getting into Derry late one evening. It was a good experience. The Korean beef bowl was DELICIOUS! The service was good. I would highly recommend.
Nice restaurant, good vibes about it, the Chicken pitta pocket was outstanding! first time trying it as we don't get anything like it in Scotland haha, I'll defs be back here when a come visit Derry again.
The Salt and Chilli Chicken is hot, I couldn't eat it, but if you like hot then this may be the dish for you.The live music was great, he's got a good voice, but don't expect to be able to have a conversation once the music starts. The servers seemed distracted.
We love coming to the gate , the new menu was very disappointing and food was very poor.
The staff were friendly and understandably busy on a Friday night. Our drinks arrived promptly and were better than good. Meals were ok I guess. The salt and chilli chicken was tasty but the stir fry vegetables served with it were quite limited - capsicum, onion, slices of chilli and spring onions, and a drizzle of sesame seeds. No broccoli, carrot, bean sprouts, mushroom, pak choy, zucchini etc. My chicken curry was good as far as it went, but again very little veg.
