We called into the Church in Rostrevor today and l was really impressed. The building is beautiful and it is really tastefully decorated for Christmas. It was lovely and warm and cosy on a cold day. The staff were all lovely and the gluten free carrot cake and coffee were really delicious. If you are passing call in you wont be disappointed!

Oh dear, war time rations are alive and well with the portions here but the price wasn't, my wife and I firstly ordered a prawn dish ,which was listed on the menu , but "they ran out yesterday " , so we then ordered two scampi with salad and fries, the little teenager who took our order said do we want the starter version of this dish or the larger meal version, we opted for the larger version, eventually the bored teenager arrived with the starter version there were 7 piecesof small scampi, about half a handful of skinny fries, we were hungry so we had it as we were in a rush at this stage, thinking the bored teenager wrote the starter version down , my wife went up to pay for the dismal meal to be charged 18 pounds each for the 2 starter sized meals , I never complain about something unless it really gets to me , but this did , next time we shall go to the schoolhouse up the other side of the village, we are local to the area and I'm afraid that we won't be back , it's a pity because it's a lovely setting to pull up on our motorcycle and people watch and relax , I had kidney stones removed 2 weeks before, and I'd sooner put up with the pain of that compared to visiting this graveyard of a place again, goodbye

Visited on Wednesday 16th Aug 2023, (yet TripAdvisor opening times show that venue is closed on Wednesdays, definitely open when we visited on 16th Aug) As we have a wee dog, we set outside in very spacious outdoor seating area. It was a sunny afternoon which helped. We hot menus from inside and order taken at table. I had the leak and potato soup, which was warm and tasty with lovely part toasted bread. Followed it with sticky toffee pudding and creamy. It was warm, quite heavy, but very tasty. Also had 2 very good 1 shot americano's. My wife's food was equally good. Service a little slow, maybe because we were outside and a little out of mind, and it was quite busy. We did have to remind passing staff about desserts after we had finished savoury starter. Not a big issue though. Staff very friendly, including lady that I would guess is manager/owner. The menu looks very good, will definitely have to go for breakfast soon. Would equally happily go for what I had thus time again. Only briefly indoors to get menus, and it looks very pleasent. Very tastefully presented.

A lovely little town, a magically refurbished little church, fabulous service and incredible food made for a remarkable late breakfast in the middle of the week. This is not to be missed.

Have ate here a few times and always lovely. Very disappointed in my visit with my family. My daughter wanted the Childrens mash and sausages was told no mash, my husband asked for chunky chips instead of skinny fries and he was served skinny fries. Was told no gravy, when I asked for vinegar was handed a bottle and said have that little drop. I decided to order a cocktail after and was told no ice left. Absolute disgrace as they were not even busy as this was before 5pm. Don’t think I will return. The menus on the website is total different to the menu given to us.

I went here for breakfast with my wife in May 2023. We just wanted a nice breakfast and nothing more substantial. When the breakfast was served, we did not receive any cutlery for about five minutes, resulting in the 'food' getting cold. What we got was the greasiest fried breakfast that we have ever had. The bacon was like two pieces of leather and inedible, as it had been overcooked / fried. The potato bread and soda bread oozed grease when cut into. The fried eggs were dripping with grease, and the mushroom was the same. Everything had obviously been thrown into a deep fat fryer, bar the eggs. If this breakfast was cooked by a 'chef', they should be ashamed of themselves.

We headed here for an early evening meal after spending the afternoon walking Alpacas on Cranfield beach (book this experience, it was great!). The Church restaurant is always a favourite of ours if we are visiting this direction, and again, we were delighted with the standard and variety of food. The staff are also always wonderful. Highly recommended.

Dropped in to this very different and beautiful restaurant and coffee shop recently on a trip to South Down. Located in Rostrevor its served fabulous food in a very friendly environment. It's spotless clean, very reasonable priced and we were served and catererd for by three very friendly ladies. We'll worth visit and when in area again will definitely call.

Third time trying to get a table and now I know why! Managed to get in today and we were more than pleased with our lunch. I had a chicken Caesar salad that was full of flavour, and such good value, and my sister had the pesto chicken ciabatta with sweet potato fries. Just delicious, and I couldn’t recommend it any higher than the five stars permitted. Staff were wonderful and service excellent. The beautiful setting and interior decoration added to the overall pleasant experience and atmosphere. We’ll be back, and make sure we book first so we’re not disappointed ?

I booked a family meal for a special occasion. I informed the restaurant 2 weeks prior that 5 members of the party would require Gluten Free options. On arrival they done their best but definitely wasn’t of a high standard. I believe they mixed up vegan & Gluten free. We were also told the only gluten free option on dessert menu was Eaton mess. We decided to leave without dessert. They did discount our meal in fairness but having given 2 weeks notice I was very disappointed that gluten free options were not readily available on the menu. My daughter opted for gluten free burger options and the burger came out in 2 slices of gluten free toast. This really was poor presentation. Gluten free burger buns are readily available in local shops. I had a plate of vegetables which was described as a vegan toastie and I’m not convinced the bread was gluten free. As my other daughters version came out with no bread after I told them She is cealiac. Her chips were also different to my daughters who had the gluten free burger. I believe in this day and age restaurants need to have clear gluten free options, on the menu and staff need to have training to ensure they are aware of different allergies. I would have completely understood had I not given a few weeks notice. Staff training and updated menu definitely a necessity.

Visited the church for breakfast while staying in Rostrevor, it was fairly quiet with only 2 other tables in. The food and coffee were delicious! The staff were very attentive and the restaurant was beautiful! First time visiting but I’ll definitely be back

I recently won a voucher for The Church at a local charity raffle, took my two sons for breakfast (4+6). Staff could not have been nicer to us, let the boys pick their own table. Service was fantastic, staff where very friendly and approachable but not overbearing. Cooked breakfasts where very tasty with good quality products and presented really well. Would definitely recommmend for a relaxed leisurely dining experience.

One of the best burgers I’ve had in some time. Service was also very friendly on both occasions. They allowed us to use a charger to charge a device with no issue at all. The coffee was also superb. The setting is lovely with outside seating and view onto Kilbroney Park.

Fanied some food and a beer but didn't want a pub. Heard about The Church and said I would give it a try. Very chill and quirky converted church. Food was delicious especially the wings and prawns. Staff were excellent, the two lads serving went above and beyond. Would highly recommend if in the area.

The building is lovely, in a fabulous location. However I can honestly say this is the worse service I have received in a restaurant ever. They forgot our drinks twice (had to go up and ask twice, then then forgot items off the order again). Food was cold when it arrived. Once we finished our meal, they didn't come and clear the dishes away (I had to ask them, to take the dishes away after 20 minutes). We then weren't even offered coffees or desserts. My pasta, honestly tasted pretty awful. I hate giving these kind of reviews to small businesses, but we paid in full for our food and drinks, and the whole experience ruined our evening.
