Arrived without a booking but there was no problem in getting us 4 ladies a table. The food was delicious, great variety. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Fabulous surroundings and a very homely feeling. Spotlessly clean. Congratulations to you all we will definitely return. Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you so much.

We went here on a Thursday night for an early evening dinner. The food itself was lovely and arrived quickly. What we didn't appreciate was the fact we were having desserts along with tea and coffee, the server asked my friends if they were finished drinking while it was in their hands and half full, not too mention the bill arrived without asking for it and would we like to pay there and then even though we clearly were far from finished!!!! We could clearly hear another member of staff saying it wouldn't be long until we were leaving, we were there for a relaxing evening to catch up with each other, that certainly didn't happen!!!

The food was amazing, the ribs..wow.. will be back. The history of the pub is fascinating & the barmaid was so friendly & knowledgeable about the pubs history . Plus the Ireland rugby was on ?

Five of us stopped for dinner here on Tuesday. We had a booking and a good job because the place was quite busy. We started in the bar which is cosy and welcoming. Ordered our meals and then into the dining area. The menu certainly has enough for every taste. I had the BBQ ribs which were excellent. Service is fast and friendly. The portions are certainly generous. It’s quite a small place so it has an intimate feel about it. £170 for the five of us including starters and some desserts. Good value. We’ll be back.

First impressions are lasting and after my first visit today I will have no hesitation in returning. From the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel like regulars.I ordered ribeye steak, cooked very rare (blue). My wife ordered the chicken stack. This must be the only time my steak has been cooked to my liking. It was excellent, as were the chunky chips, onion rings and mushroom. The peppered sauce was really nice too, not too peppery and neither devoid of taste. My wife's meal consisted of two fillets if chicken, served on a sumptuous bed of champagne and again with the peppered sauce. Again this for her was right on point.Dessert was one cheese cake and a sticky toffee pudding. The portions were generous and again really nice. When you have a first visit to a restaurant which goes so well you will definitely want to go back.A nice wee bonus was being able to pay a personal compliment to the chef and his team on the way out. Often times patrons never get a chance to tell them how much we appreciate their efforts. Thanks so much to all at Head O The Road.

Beautiful restaurant, have been on Saturday and Sunday - menus on both days are brilliant. The Sunday lunch is the best about! Staff are all very friendly and helpful - bring the kids food out as soon as its ready which is brilliant! Highly recommend ?

Nice family friendly country bar and restaurant. Can get a bit noisy with kids sometimes but generally a nice atmosphere. Would recommend a visit as food is good.
