“Heading for breakfast on a Tuesday morning we realised it was too early for our usual breakfast stop in Wylam and we Googled places nearby that would be open for 8am.
No. 19 came up as a search result and the photos looked good so we set the sat nav and headed over not really knowing what to expect but needing a cooked breakfast!
We were immediately impressed by the Close House Estate when we pulled into the grounds. Well maintained, good parking and everything was well signposted and easy to find.
We were seated in the largely empty restaurant which slowely filled up while we were there. Lovely open room with large windows over looking the surrounding golf course, pond and woodland.
The decor is modern and clean, with nice architectural touches and plenty of space between tables.
We chose the full English Breakfast and Eggs Royale. The full English was well cooked, presented and tasty. The Eggs Royale was a classic, with well balanced flavours and a very good hollandaise sauce.
We had a latte and an americano and both were tasty.
Service was friendly and attentive.
Having found No.19 almost by chance we are keen to visit again and try their lunch and evening offerings. A nice spot to enjoy a good meal in a pleasant relaxed environment.”
