Called in on a wet and horrible Dec night. Open fire was a welcome sight. Food started at 6pm. Two spicy chicken burgers with one chips to share. All the food was fresh and tasty. Chicken tender in a soft brioche bun with lovely coleslaw and salad. Home cooked chips were lush..£12 + for the two..(Dec 2023)

Couldn't open the front door easily which set my anxiety off as felt customers were staring. The lady behind the bar was lovely though. Had to sit outside as felt uncomfortable...dogs barking at ours and no one controlling them.

Tripadviser rejected my first review, fair enough, I wrote it on the night I visited this pub and they have clearly complained about the review, but emotions run high when the quality of what you have been served is so appalling. When beer tastes like vinegar and you have to leave it, and simply leave the premises because to have complained would have attracted so much attention from the locals, says a lot about the atmosphere. What a trully dreadful experience this was. I have never been served such an awful pint of Wainwright, honestly it was so bad. Speaking to other landlords in Wooler, this isnt an issolated comment.. Perhaps if you are touring, or there shooting as I was, The Anchor, is more suited if you aren't a local, local....(if you get my drift)

A great pub with welcoming staff and dog friendly. The local regulars were also friendly. Good potions of food as well. Will visit again in the future.

Alright for drinks, food not good. £6 for ‘loaded’ fries!? A handful of chips with a spoonful of chilli on top is not loaded fries. Hotdogs felt like plastic.
Friendly welcoming pub.only had drinks.
