Durham Ox Inn Orston

Church St, Orston, Nottingham

We came across this lovely place on our way to Nottingham. We telephoned on route and made enquiries regarding a table for 4 hungry people. We were informed that there would be a space for 4 at 3pm.We arrived and entered. The place was bustling with people, laughing and chattering. The atmosphere was happy and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful. Within 10mins of purchasing our drinks we were shown to our table, in a room at the back of the pub, which was homely and warm.We ordered our meals, and very shortly after, we received our meals. My 3 companions had Sunday roasts, which they assured me were excellent. The meat was tasty and tender, the vegetables were cooked just right, huge Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes and rich, thick gravy.I had the vegetarian dish of cheese, potato and broccoli bake which was lovely, with well cooked veg to accompany, we were all very pleased with our meal.We then had desserts, 2 biscoff cheesecake, 1 creme brulee and 1 sticky toffee pudding. All desserts were scrummy! The sticky toffee pudding was out of this world! We all delved in and helped my daughter eat the sauce, she tried to fight us off, but once you taste that sauce you can't stop eating it!A really lovely meal, served by happy, friendly staff, in a homely atmospheric pub.I wish it was my local!!

Nice pub. A shandy and a cola was £5. No parasols outside on the hottest day of the year.Place is dog friendly but garden is not enclosed so make sure to keep them on the lead as there is lots of junk and delapitated building out the back that could injure a dog/small child.
