This is a small restaurant with a menu that certainly tempts you. We had prawns and burrata to start, both were delicious. However, we felt let down by the mains, especially for the price. The smoked salmon pasta tasted of salmon, but only contained one piece. The mushroom risotto needed seasoning, and for some of the mushrooms to be cooked more. We had coffees to finish which were excellent.Service was good. There are a couple of vegetarian options for each course. I didn't see anything vegan. The toilets are outside around the back. You have to go across a small yard, which is quite dark and with uneven ground. Then there's a step up to get to the loo. So it's quite cold, and not particularly easy if you have accessibility needs. We also found the restaurant cold, and kept our coats on inside.

Great little place. Called in without a booking and took the last 2 seats in the place. We weren't disappointed. Time to chat between courses, the food was great and a good atmosphere to be had also. It isn't perfect but it has really likeable quirks, and that adds rather than detracts. Staff really friendly too.

On requesting a booking for 4 people we were told that the only possible time slots available were 6.30pm or 9pm. We opted for the former of these knowing that it would be a rush, so we were somewhat surprised when most tables were occupied by 7.30 and no one else came. By the time we departed at 9.15 there were many empty tables so it appears that had we arrived around 7.30-8pm there wouldn't have been a problem! The vast majority of main courses were pasta dishes, which was fine except the sauces that accompanied them were not the most flavoursome and we were not offered either parmesan or black pepper, which even the most basic Italian restaurant would bring automatically. On requesting these, a small ramikin of parmesan appeared between the four of us! We also had to request spoons which again was surprising as pasta dishes are quite tricky to eat with just a knife and fork. We selected a modest but good wine Nero d'Avola which at almost £30 was excessive. This restaurant was already expensive for what was on offer and with an "optional" 10% service charge added, it made it even more so. To then bring a card machine that asked if we wanted to leave a tip, was not good as I am sure many diners would add something possibly unaware that 10% service charge had already been added. The restaurant and ambience was good as was the music and the hosts were pleasant enough. It was a pity that they haven't quite got it right for the price they charge.

Birthday musings ..these photos taken in Trattoria L'Oliva BeestonFood amazing ! and self explanatory in the photosAlthough I'll give a heads up - the fruit is sliced pear on warm slightly toasty bread with softened gorgonzola, drizzled honey and walnuts on top, to start....One of the main courses, 5hr slow cooked lamb in tomato sauce...you have to try !I will be back for other dishes !! absolutely !And of course, the books... the photo's on the walls...A story ..... told in the most appetising, atmosphere this side of ...well ... glad this is local !!!

Nice food, starter is better than main! A bit overpriced but everything else is great!

My first time here and it we absolutely lovely. Really attentive, welcoming service and authentic Italian food in the most cosy setting. Quite a small menu but it was still very hard to pick as all the options sounded amazing. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

I've delayed writing this for a month while I pondered.A friend had recommended the 'amazing' Lamb Ragu, which my son had and was full of flavour.Maybe I chose the wrong dish - the Seafood Linguine. It was both plain in appearance and taste, and sadly lacking in much seafood. The Walnut and Pear Bruschetta starter was excellent, as was the Tiramisu. The quirky Moka pot Espresso was a nice touch, and the pricing of Gin & Tonic was also a welcome surprise.Overall a nice venue, with pleasant staff.Pricing-wise, a little more than I feel it should have been, and the customer toilet is an out-house (out the entrance, down a side street, around the back of the building)Parking: Plenty of free evening parking at both the nearby Sainsburys and Tesco supermarkets - 2-3 minute walk from either.

What a gorgeous little place to eat. We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and had the best evening. The restaurant only has a small amount of tables. It offers a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and chatty and did a great job of looking after front of house. The food was exactly what we wanted, traditional uncomplicated and freshly made. We had Scallops and Burrata with bread to start Seafood linguine and Ragu for mains. It was perfect and delicious and generous portions. We followed with a Baileys Panna Cotta and few Limoncello shots. Special mention to chef, your food is amazing. Can’t wait to return soon.

Stunning meal, good wine, great atmosphere, quirky restaurant and superb service. The food is authentic and very interesting and the menu changes regularly. I liked everything we had at the table. Can't wait to revisit.

Have visited L'Oliva on several occasions and always enjoyed our meals. However, this time the starters and desserts were of the usual high quality but the mains less so. We specifically asked if a dish could be served without olives - it came swimming in them but we accepted. But the monkfish was overcooked, tasteless and like rubber and served with skin - awful. While the cost was adjusted after our complaint it still left us very disappointed.
