We have been to The Refinery numerous times since it opened, it’s a lovely place with a good atmosphere. We have always received excellent service which set it apart from other bars / restaurants in West Bridgford.However, we went for a mid week meal recently which has soured our previous experiences. My husband ordered the steak and was specifically asked how he wanted it cooked, to which he said rare. However, when it arrived it was blatantly well done. He debated as to whether to send it back (I don’t think I’ve ever seen him complain or send anything back in a restaurant) but in the end concluded that as he wasn’t enjoying it, it just didn’t seem right.The waitress acknowledged the error and asked whether he would be OK to wait 10 minutes while they prepared another dish (the 10 minutes should have been a warning sign for the preparation of a rare steak). After having sat and watched me eat my meal so it wouldn’t get cold, his meal turns up ... again, the steak was well done. By this point he was hungry and fed up so ate it (while I then sat there and watched him eat). The waitress did enquire whether everything was now OK, to which he explained that it wasn’t really, but there was no real acknowledgement or apology. Likewise when the bill turned up, again no acknowledgement or apology. We paid (without tipping for the first time ever) and sadly agreed on the way home that we wouldn’t be back again.This is really disappointing as it was our go to venue and now we won’t be going there again. A simple “apologies for the mix up, we’re not sure what happened there but hope it didn’t spoil your meal too much” would have sufficed.

My favourite place in west bridgford for cocktails, especially when they have their 2 for £12 offer on. They have a unique selection on offer my favourite is the ‘refined g&t’. I’ve only eaten here twice however, both times when they have Sunday dinner - once with chicken and once with beef. Both nice from what I can remember.

My dad is a regular, which means I often come here as well as a result. The food is usually great but the last time we were here the food was just not up to snuff, lots of it burned, too salty etc. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it because it was his birthday but none of the staff seemed particularly bothered, I’d expect as a result of so many dishes going wrong, a manger or a chef would at least come over and apologise, but nothing of the sort happened. It was just a really surprising situation that made me feel hesitant to return.

Wow! What a fabulous evening. Amazing tapas. Great live music. Fabulous atmosphere. We went to the later sitting. I can highly recommend this event. We've had a really enjoyable evening. Something different from the 'normal' evenings out. Just wonderful!!

Great afternoon with a late bottomless brunch. Very nice food and the alcohol was frequently topped up. Extremely friendly staff , ‘Bish’ had to mention particularly very professional and friendly , highly recommend.

We selected this restaurant because google stated it had air conditioning and we were all hot and bothered from an unusually warm English summer day.Unfortunately they had turned off the air con and opened the doors (due to the warm weather !) which made it uncomfortable to eat. We intend to stay for dessert because it was a birthday celebration but we left after the mains due to the heat.We ordered all of the tapas, the chorizo was nice, the mushrooms were surprisingly really nice. Unfortunately the calamari was over cooked and there weren’t many prawns in the prawns in garlic. The meatballs were overpowered by the spice and weren’t that balanced in flavour.The children had Bao buns (plural on the menu but arrived singular) but it wasn’t eaten due to the temperature in the restaurant. The kids menu goujons were eaten but not the fries.I had given this restaurant a 5 star previously and we were returning to celebrate an informal family birthday. However from the disappointment we will probably try sexy mama loves spaghetti or another restaurant we can walk to in West Bridgford.I would recommend that google remove this restaurant from the air conditioning restaurants list because they don’t use it. The chef’s must have been absolutely baking in those conditions.

Attended for an unlimited tapas evening. Great idea, great food and the place was buzzing. Not sure they were prepared for the interest so were a little overwhelmed and ran out of several things - but the staff clearly understood this, and were doing their damnedest to keep things going. They're holding another soon, I'm sure it will be slicker next time and will definitely be going if there are any babysitters!

Went for the Bottomless Tapas evening. From arrival we were greeted and our table was already preset with olives and dip, with fresh bread (focaccia etc) served within minutes, really good. We then ordered from the wide range of available dishes (c12-15 from memory) and the food arrived soon after. It was good as it arrived as tapas should, when each dish is ready. The calamari, chorizo and Lamb Kofte were my favourites but all the dishes were excellent. The drinks were lovely, I had beer (they serve a fantastic local IPA on draft) and wine (from an extensive list) with the food. Soon the live acoustic music began who were clearly a well experienced duo. The music was a nice added bonus up the evening. It wasn’t too intrusive, ie. you could still chat away. We didn’t have room for desert as we had reordered our favourite dishes again! A great night and have booked in for the next one in September.

The cornflake chicken was overdone and dry, everyone’s chips were far too salted and one of the two burgers was also overdone. That said it didn’t put us off from coming again in case it was an off night food wise as overall the atmosphere was really convivial

If you are in the mood for excellent food at a reasonable price this is the place to go. From starter through main and all the way to dessert everything is a delight for the taste buds. The crispy beef is especially delicious.
