I booked the Barley Mow a couple of weeks ago for a special event, and they did not disappoint!I emailed the venue and was in touch with the General Manager, Fiona, who was brilliant in helping me make the booking look and feel special. My partner and I had a wedding ceremony on the day of our booking and Fiona was very responsive, helpful and caring when it came to arranging things for the 6 of us that came to have a meal. The staff on the day were fantastic. Ella, the Assistant Manager, was friendly and welcoming to us the moment we arrived and we had welcome drinks on our table, as well as some lovely decorations to make it feel more special.Heidi and Fred were also brilliant in their service with us, even when some in the party took forever to decide what food they wanted! They were both patient, attentive and made us feel so welcome.Thank you Fiona, Ella, Heidi and Fred. We loved our booking and we can't wait to come back for more food soon!Parking: The parking is the opposite side of the road to the Barley Mow but there is plenty of it.

Celebrating my husband's birthday at the Barley Mow was a lovely experience, marked by a cozy atmosphete and delicious food that catered to both adults and children. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making it our best visit to a Chef and Brewer pub yet. We're thankful for the memorable evening and look forward to returning. A big thank you to everyone at the Barley Mow!

A nice place to eat. The food is good but expensive for what you
I visited the Barley Mow with a friend for dinner last week. I had been before for breakfast and had always had a great time. The staff are polite and welcoming, the food is very good and I love the fire on a cold day. However, it was my first time in the evening and I was disappointed. Although the staff was not exactly rude, we were rushed to pay and leave, being told at 2115 that they were closing in 10 minutes. We really got the sense that they wanted rid of us. My friend and I don't see each other often and it would have been good to be told at the start of the night that they were going to close early, we would have chosen a different place. In short, if you want a nice pub for a quick meal (or breakfast), this is your place. If you want a late night with friends, maybe look somewhere else or ask before.

The service was excellent but on this visit the food was disappointing. But let me clarify, I have had numerous visits to the Barley Mow and the food has been excellent. The starter and dessert were very good but the main course let the overall experience down. The advertised "Duck fat rosemary and garlic roast potatoes" were normal roast potatoes and the "Maple roasted carrots and parsnips" were just boiled. The roast pork loin had no flavour and crackling was chewy. To top it off the Yorkshire pudding had an over powering egg flavour. Had I been asked how my meal was when I paid I would have not had to leave this review
