Located in prime riverside location overlooking Abingdon bridge. Great in the summer time as there is plenty of outdoor seating but be warned this is a very popular pub and often packed with drinkers and diners when the weather is good. Great area for storing your bike if you want to cycle to the pub. It's quite expensive to eat and drink here because of the prime location. Difficult to park directly next to the pub so wheel chair users may struggle a bit. Most people will need to park in the pay and display carpark 1 minute walk from the pub. The quality of the food is very good though and nice service and atmosphere. Would recommend.Parking: 1 minute walk from the pub

Our 1st time here last Sunday, and I'm sure it won't be our last. The Sunday roast was exquisite, possibly one of the best pub roasts I've ever had. Hubby had the beef and I had the chicken, we ordered a pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese between us which was more than enough. Everything was cooked to perfection and so tasty. We were pretty full but decided to look at the dessert menu anyway.....hubby's eyes lit up when he saw treacle tart on the menu so he ordered that and I had the pecan pie, again both were delicious.I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, such a beautiful location too so we're going to come back in the summer and sit outside. A bit of a trek for Sunday lunch (1hr 30m) but so worth it. 10/10

I was treated to a Mother’s Day meal at the nags head and must say I was very impressed. Wasn’t sure I would be as hadn’t been there for many years. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The food was 1st class and arrived quickly (important when you have small children with you) .We will certainly be back soon.Parking: Loads of room in the car park just over the bridgeKid-friendliness: Child packs provided as soon as we sat down which kept them busy ?

We visited for a reunion meal and were also celebrating a friend’s birthday. We asked the staff if we could be served the two cakes (with sparklers) which we had brought with us and not only did they agree but gathered round to sing too ☺️ The food was delicious (be sure to try the cauliflower wings as a starter), the service excellent (thank you Elisha and Michelle) and a fabulous time was had by all. Highly recommend.

Oh my God!! What a hidden gem in Abingdon! Booked it as a treat for my other half's birthday. Visited pub with our friends and family. We were offered just right kind of seating area without any issues. Warm welcome from person behind the bar. First impression was great and atmosphere was so great...people having a pint or drink with their friends/ family after/before dog walks...restaurant area where we were seated was so comfy and cosy as weather outside was chilly. Service was very very good and we were being attended regularly and didn't feel like interrupted. From starters to mains to dessert was just awesome. Our friends loved food , service and atmosphere too. We are definitely coming back in summer to sit outside and enjoy the whole experience. Thank you Nags Head for a memorable time today.Vegetarian options: I had tried falafel salad for mains and it was good but I could feel gritty bits in my salad. Taste wise it was absolutely yummy..not sure if it was one of the seasoning. Potato bread for starters was yummy but truffle butter was not spreadable. Suggesting to include pitta bread and various feeling along with cous cous.Parking: Rye farm car park is the closest and easiest for The Nags headKid-friendliness: Our girls were given kids friendly packs to keep them busy in a nice way which they certainly cherished.Wheelchair accessibility: Didn't use it but noticed that it is wheelchair friendly and few ramps around the facility including toilet area. Didn't see wheelchair accessible toilets but worth asking staff or social media.
Great place to sit outside by river.
