The food was really good, but would have been better if the lids were off the dishes so you could see what was available. And for everything to be

This restaurant takes such pride in their food and service. I went here with my friend and we had a great experience and the food was amazing! It was that good, I booked another table the week after with my partner.

Excellent authentic Indian food, great service, free parking . We were four ladies enjoying an evening out. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet but it was a Tuesday evening . There is an extensive menu , with dishes for all palates, I am adventurous and took the waiters advice and went for the mutton curry ( 007 ) which was very tasty although their idea of “one chilli” rating and mine might differ, ( it was quite spicy ) but I did really enjoy it and would have it again . The other dishes all went down well too . On a Tuesday evening they also offer a four course special deal ( £16.95 each ) , but to be honest that would have been too much food for us . The waiter ( 007 same as the curry ) kept us amused all evening , which was much appreciated ( we are older ladies so he wasn’t chatting us up ). We would be very happy to recommend this restaurant, slightly off the beaten track on the Hanwell fields housing estate , it’s well worth a visit .

Purple is a Royal colour and this restaurant gives you a royal experience the service was impeccable staff friendly and assisted with food choice We had the Railway mutton curry which was sublime Best Indian Restaurant we’ve been to and we’ve been to quite a few over the years

Excellent evening with a very friendly staff, particularly the manager, who was attentive and entertaining without being intrusive. The food was excellent and the portion sizes were just right. The railway mutton curry is highly recommended. Don’t be put off by the name. This is a classic Mumbai dish with beautifully tender chunks of meat in a tasty sauce. We will definitely return next time we are in Banbury.

Very good food but service was a bit slow considering it was banquet night there only seemed to be one guy taking and delivering orders

Overall decent food, lamb wasn’t tender, but a little chewy but the curry was nice, Naan bread was good, hospitality and service was decent although a little pushy for our liking. Would we eat there again, yes but maybe would try somewhere else first.

How difficult is it to find a good curry in Banbury? Very, it would seem. Have tried many over the years. Voujon was ok at best, but went downhill. Have tried Purple Mango a couple of times in the last few years. Thought I would give them another go as haven't been there for a while. Arrived at 9.30 on a Saturday night to collect a takeaway. There was one table occupied. Not a good start. The staff didn't seem really interested. The food tasted like a frozen base sauce. The lamb was chewy and the sauces very watery. Had to throw half of it away. Definitely not going back. If anyone can recommend a decent takeaway within 20 miles please post it. My go to now is Bilash in Carterton. A trek and not very often - but worth it. Have been having curries from there since the 80's. Also anyone going to Bristol - would recommend Coronation curry house for an experience or Dhamaka Restaurant. Banbury is just dire!

Purple Mango is a beacon of an Indian restaurant in a sea of mediocre meals in Banbury. Their prices are very reasonable, company and service is excellent and their food is on another level. Our server recommended the Railway Curry as part of a banquet menu, and he couldn't have made a better recommendation. Between us, we tried a good proportion of the menu, and everything was 10/10. If you're looking for a good value meal mid-week in Banbury, you can't do much better than Purple Mango, and it's some of the tastiest curry we've had Inna very long time! Also, after dinner chocolates are the perfect touch!
