Having left the M40 with the intention of finding a pub for my Sunday lunch rather than stopping at yet another indistinguishably mediocre 'Services' I was relieved to find the Barley Mow in Upper Heyford as the previous 2 pubs had been permanently closed ! I was even more relieved to learn that, as a solo diner, I should actually be able to have lunch ! As a pre-booked only service ad hoc arrivals would normally be turned away ! I was offered a choice of a beef or a pork roast meal and chose the pork and was provided with a generous portion of pork with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage and cauliflower with gravy, stuff in and apple sauce. As expected, a marked improvement on Motorway 'Services.' Surprisingly neither coffee nor tea are served but fortunately I was very happy with water. Thank you !Wheelchair accessibility: The path from the car park to the bar was accessible to me on crutches but would be quite difficult for a wheelchair user though I suspect that entry through the street entrance would possible.

Great landlady. Knows how to generate a good lucrative and fun atmosphere. Typical country type pub guests, friendly and respectable.

Charming pub with great food and drink. Service was quick and friendly. The Rib Eye was perfectly done and the Sea Bass was lovely and crispy. More than just pub food but at a very reasonable price.Vegetarian options: Beautiful fish and hassleback potatoes.

Well we went with family and friends for one drink before our walk. Our walk never happened, LOL!! Once inside, or rather outside in the lovely garden with children's play equipment, we couldn't bring ourselves to leave! We ended up staying all afternoon and had lovely food, chilled beers, great chat with the bar staff and the kids had a great time too. Definitely going back!

we popped in for something to eat on our way to a wedding reception, we had found the Barley Mow on the internet. The food was great, my wife has a few intollerances and as the food was made on site they were able to cater for these. we would highly recommend eating there

Went here on Friday evening for my husbands works summer dinner. Had a great selection of home cooked pub grub. Opted for the prawn skewer starter and the chicken Caesar salad. It was delicious and well presented. All of the table had something different off of the menu and everyone said how good their meal was. Very reasonably priced and lovely atmosphere. Will most definitely be back again.
