We generally use the takeaway service provided . The meals are always welcome from here and the Grace of India has a fine selection of authentic dishes. Used so often as our go to local indian restaurant where we are assured of an excellent meal. Service with a smile .

Superb food, full of flavour and good portions. Best I've tried in East Lothian.

This place used to be the best for a curry but the meal we had this weekend was a disgrace. My partner had the tikka masala, hardly any chicken, tasteless and the sauce was like soup. I got the biryani, chicken and rice wasn't nice but the worst part was the vegetable curry sauce the potatoes were hard, peas were mushy and the carrots were slimy. All the veg must have came out of a tin as it was the rounded off baby carrots that was in the sauce. Won't be going here again.

Had been a while since we last had takeaway and is usually always good ,but this one was poor the tika masala was like soup with very little chicken the potatoes in one the dishes were hard unedible and the meal over all was just warm . So disappointed that they're choosing inferior cheaper ingredients sad and won't be back .

Some time since eating here but as we were decorating the kitchen decided on a take out meal. Unfortunately the meal was let down by the chicken Pakora starter which in itself was inedible, ie dried out/tough obviously been lying for a while and came without the salad and sauce described in the menu. the rest of the meal Chicken Korma was good and the lamb Dhansac was tasty but cannot give it more than 2 stars. Had we been dining in we would have sent the starter back and refused to pay for it. We are not general grumblers and rarely post a review other than good but the starter had to go in the bin. This was Saturday 19/08/2023.

Still good food but not as good as it was.

Best curry I've had for ages. Very generous portions, lots of meat and the lamb was tender and juicy. We walked past yesterday and it smelled so good we had to go back tonight and we were happy we did!

More like ‘Disgrace of India’. We haven’t had this bad food in ages. The filthy dining room and the rude service just rounded up the whole experience. Obviously talking bad about leaving customers is not making things any better. We are in disbelief that this place has any good reviews. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

I have been eating here since they opened the food is absolutely gorgeous, always so fresh and delicious hence the price is a little higher but I’m happy to pay it. They couldn’t be nicer people as well always so accommodating and kind. Portions are the same as any Indian restaurant so not sure what people are moaning about. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Amazing curry!!! Reading some other reviews I’m truly embarrassed or there is an attack possibly from other restaurants going on. I’ve eaten curries since I was a boy and know nearly every restaurant in and around Edinburgh. This curry house is utterly fantastic and authentic and tasting a few places near ie Haddington, Tranent, it’s miles ahead!!!!! I must also add how dare idiots complain at pricing- imagine your electric bill if you had your ovens and gas burners on 12 hours a day, I mean after restaurants were decimated by corona virus now they have a double/triple bill cost. People should understand this if they are self employed. Maybe reviews mentioning price are from office ball bags who have their bottoms wiped,,, I don’t know?? I had a mushroom pilu rice with a lamb madras and a pot of finely chopped coriander on the side with a slice of lemon to garnish,,,, amazing! The chipate (oops for spelling) was delightful and the lamb so soft it broke with the weight of my fork. Wonderful restaurant!!!! I highly recommend. Better than prince of India peebles and as good as the Everest in toll cross! I mean everyone I get that all prices for everything have gone up but with blooming milk now at £1.90 we shouldn’t bully or take it out on the little guy when it simply isn’t their fault! As for the plonker who put a picture of his meal on his review- god knows what you ordered but my dishes have never looked like that. Seeing how the meals are served in metal bowls on a candle burner perhaps you slapped it on your own plate (as pictured) badly, took the meat out and grabbed a pic. Also to the review that stated “not genuine indian food” should make you feel sick seeing as India is twice the size of most continents and north south east and west cuisine varies massively. To mention “Indian” food was just ugly. You should be ashamed to be a “local guide”. If this is a competitor then please be more British and take it on the chin. Fantastic little place and I will be returning regularly when I’m near!!! It just has that special taste you hope a good “Indian” has! Keep up the great work! Do not overlook this restaurant. Ps- madras is not just a curry name folks,,,, it’s a region/place lol!!! ?

Just over £16 for this. My first and last time buying food from here. Was shocked when the lady said £16 for rice and chicken jalfrezi and wish i had said not to bother. Rice was good and jalfrezi was average. Portions were tiny also and was 100% not worth £16.
